    he has to be somewhat popular, otherwise why would the owners sit back and watch him completely destroy two baseball franchises? In 2003, they beat the uberexpensive Yankees in the series with a small-market payroll. He gave all of the other cheapass owners out there an alibi. I think they like him. By "alibi" do you mean something else?

    The summer of 84 was the greatest of my life. 8 years old sitting watching all day games on WGN all summer with my hero at the time, my grandfather. He would get a kick out of how dark Gary Matthews was.....ah the good ol days. You are quite a bit older than I would have guessed

    Let me preface this by saying that I think Cuban would be a great choice. However, defending his ability to run a business really doesn't do much to further his cause to non-believers, especially in the Cubs case. The man is going to make an obscene amount of money with the Cubs no matter what he does; the question is, is he going to run his business like Jeffrey Loria or like Steinbrenner? And by like Jeffrey Loria, I would mean keep the payroll the same and not drastically change the team. Loria makes a ton of money by selling his young players high at the cost of the team's (continued) success. My finance major friend says he's the best owner in baseball because of his business savvy. I think he's an a-hole.

    Legal reasons, make sure he doesn't have any unknown illnesses, injuries, etc. Also, to get the contract insured. Maybe Hanley realizes how godawful his defense is? yeah, thats probably the main reason. So why not wait for arbitration and sign a fat deal with an AL team?

    Johnson has dominated us in years past, so I have no idea how we are going to look against the grandpa version tomorrow. Z's ks don't worry me at all. He's getting guys out and walking less of them. The new Z can stick around as long as he'd like. Call me crazy, but I like our chances tomorrow. Wouldn't it be hilarious if Lou started Pie?     Wisconsin: Canada's favorite Province. fixed Easy there. Give crap to Minnesoooooooooooooooooooota. And the Brewers as well, but not the entire state. Seriously. Minnesota is the most canadian state in the union apart from that goofy part of Michigan. Making fun of Wisconsin is an awful lot like making fun of Illinois apart from sports teams.

    Yeah, the Mavs suck because of Avery Johnson. Cuban is the reason why their suckitude is no longer the norm. I don't how any fan of the team could dispute that.
