  1. I'm confused. Yeah, that's a head scratcher. Irony is tough sometimes
  2. Really? At this point is it okay for me to root for the Brewers in order to spite St. Louis? And for a higher draft pick? Not really, and it's messed up to question someone for rooting for the Cubs on a Cubs message board I guess my tone didn't translate. I wasn't meaning to be critical. Meant it be more joking... I just read his post and thought, "wow, do I really want the Cubs to win tonight?" My first answer to my own question was "I don't care." The second was "no, not really." We cool. I'm not going to actively root against them; I think it will have meant that something died inside me if I ever get there. But I don't care enough right now to call myself apathetic.

  4. Thanks, I had a feeling I didn't want to read that
  5. When you have a GM who just loves to re-sign non-productive former Cubs each year just to give them a paycheck, who could be surprised. Wood isn't productive? What are you babbling about? Reading is fundamental. 1-3 record for an overpaid non-productive thrower is what I'd expect. Try to keep up. This is a joke, right? Breaking news: Benchwarmer is still the worst FDB and ban this [expletive]
  6. 2 runs scored with one ball leaving the infield and no walks. Garza cannot catch a break.
  7. Really? You don't think the idea that the Ricketts family, billionaires, severely underestimated the financial situation of the Cubs, but YOU could see it clearly when they couldn't...is up for debate? You're not wrong, but holy slippery slope
  8. We could just use "the next MJ" if you like that better. yes, and YES
  9. A suburban park is the worst idea ever and people who bring up the idea should be banned from life. Or invited to live in Chicago and forced to commute to the suburbs
  10. Agreed, but it is far from a dump IMO. From the player's perspective, it's a dump I thought it was charming, then I took a trip to Fenway. Now I think it's a dump. You mentioned the players, and that is true because they see a side of Wrigley we rarely do. The clubhouses and general underbelly of the place is apparently a major mess. I got to tour the clubhouse a couple weeks ago, and it's really gross. Bare slab concrete, smells musty and you can hear water dripping. And the press room is the size of my studio. Hilarious.
  11. Did he have a stroke recently? I guess I hadn't seen him in a while, but he was really struggling on the live draft coverage. Totally sad.
  12. The blank contract was Dawson. Oh, [expletive] That's what I get for talking about things that happened when I was like 5.
  13. Maybe Dunston Jr will ALSO give us a blank check
  14. That's about what I weighed as a cub scout too Fatty fat fat FFS, I don't weigh that much and I'm 28. Of course I'm only 5'7. Yeah, I really sold out on the pun there. That's actually what I weigh now.
  15. Kujay basically said that already
  16. That's about what I weighed as a cub scout too
  17. It was a happy expletive. One of my favorites
  18. I know it's his right, but it would be a pretty punk thing to do to not accept a trade to a contender. First, it shows no appreciation for all the money the Cubs have paid him. And second, and more importantly, it shows that he really has no desire to win and doesn't want to deal with the pressure of a pennant race at this point in his career. Who wants that kind of guy around? There are no other options there? Like enjoying the city/team to the detriment of his pocketbook (and trophy case)? That's really overly critical of the guy at this stage.
  19. Kind of mystifying why he doesn't want to get moved. He has to know we aren't picking up that option next year, so the only way he gets it is if he does approve a trade. That's not to mention that he's currently on a sinking ship and should be looking to go to a contender about now. If it's good ol'-fashioned team loyalty, then that's commendable. But he's costing himself both money and a chance to win by sticking with us through this year.
  20. Why is that? We don't do it very often, and by all accounts, he was the best remaining hitter as far as upside is concerned. And of course, the jury is still out on Vitters.
  21. Hey, someone tell MLBN that Gammons isn't sounding so lucid these days. Maybe he's just bad live, but he sounds awfully out of it
  22. More negative [expletive] in the wrong thread, no less. Get rid of this guy
  23. [expletive], that's a great pick. Can I please be a Rays fan please?
