  1. Why would Colvin have had to irritate Quade? Maybe Quade just knows he doesn't belong in a starting lineup. I think Len said last night that Colvin hasn't gotten a chance at regular playing time in order to prove himself. This is wrong.
  2. Yeah, it really downplays Robinson's struggles, and betrays ignorance more than anything
  3. No one here, really, but I'm tired of the imagined persecution complex. Bit of a carryover from the political thread.
  4. Is it me, or are white people more persecuted today than ever before? You gotta feel for the young rich white kid with a bright future and otherworldly athletic ability. Jesus Racist Christ.
  5. Don't forget that .500 may be enough to win our woeful division next year
  6. I can keep up with the team and point out their follies without watching them. Best fans in baseball, IMO
  7. If Wood was offended by this request, then he's insane. For all Hendry's faults, I have no doubt in his ability to skillfully inquire as to Kerry's interest in playing for a title this year. There's no way such a request would piss him off. Not only should it not piss him off to be offered a chance to play for a title, but what do the Cubs have to lose if they did piss him off? Access to a fairly decent reliever? A bro 4 life GR's right, I'm sure Hendry handled this with tact. I'm just really, really impressed that he gave us such a discount and really like the idea of him in the organization well after his playing days are over. To trade him mid-season simply because his contract was so team-friendly would be pretty cold.
  8. Sexy, but there's no way Fielder should bat behind Aramis. I like this lineup, too... vs righties: Jackson Castro Pujols Aramis Soto Colvin Byrd Flaherty vs Lefties: Castro Baker Pujols Aramis Soriano Soto Byrd Jackson / Colvin / RH 5th OF Soriano 6th? That outfield has the potential to worse than 05's dismal unit. Our infield would have to carry the team, but midseason pickups would be necessary to get us anywhere. Let's just focus on Fielder/Wilson and worry about serious contention after that. We'd have one of the best infields in baseball with that scenario. Just like 05.
  9. And he also had this to say. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/cubs/6782205-417/gm-jim-hendry-doesnt-believe-cubs-need-to-go-boom-to-improve.html In any other division - 5th place is last. Jimbo benefits from the fact that we technically aren't in last place. So yeah, there better be a rebuilding effort. WHAT THE [expletive] ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT Haha, there you are
  10. Yeah moving one or the other would be ideal. Marshall in my opinion would have been the best to move because of the emergence of Russell. The rangers gave up two top guys for Mike Adams. Wieland the further along of the two is less regarded but is having a breakout year and would have been a great pick up for the cubs. The cubs probably could have gotten him and a lesser guy. The padres in return got wieland and Erlin who is considered a top 35 prospect in all of baseball. Marshal <> Mike Adams in any way. Stop with this.
  11. I honestly hope we didn't piss him off by suggesting a trade after the discount he gave us. This guy seems to genuinely love our hapless organization. Can we not [expletive] with him, please?
  12. Calender fail. Haha whoops. Everyday is Saturday when you're unemployed
  13. [expletive] this saturday night game [expletive]. Stupid Cardinals.
  14. OR. It says or. And that's probably not right, either Where are you seeing 'or'? I'm hoping you are right, but I don't see it. This is what he tweeted. "The Angels likely would have to give up nothing more than mid- to lower tiered prospect or 2. Cubs would pay big part of salary." Wow. Good call. Totally thought he was saying a low tier prospect or two. Thanks. Hah. I see that now. Internet shorthand (and sometime its very implication) kind of sucks for exchanging information.

  16. I think even Keith Law, deep down in his cold black heart, would be disappointed in that isoP from Szczur
  17. Is it that, or is it that nobody wants him even for free because he's a BUM
  18. Yeah, the Cubs may be the best example of a team that needs to do the opposite of that
  19. It's interesting that the fact we haven't traded him proves to you that teams don't want him. It doesn't prove that to anyone else who uses their brain. We have just been discussing that Z is too valuable to the Cubs to either give his entire contract away for nothing in return, or to pay the whole thing to ensure getting a solid prospect. Don't you think it's somewhat likely the Cubs feel the same way and that's why they haven't pulled the trigger?
