  1. Good job Fonty....now make it hold up Ted, and be economical so we can avoid the 'pen....yeah, right, that's the ticket.
  2. Must suck being a Cubs starter these days knowing that either your offense will fail to show up or alternatively the bullpen will blow it
  3. There will be many casual Cubs fans who will wet themselves if Sandberg is a legit candidate. It amazes me how many fans think that being a former player for the franchise somehow makes them more desirable as a manager; it's irrelevant to me
  4. I wish the Expos were still around. I loved driving up to Montreal for a weekend of gambling, drinking, strip clubs, and a cheap ticket to a sparsely attended major league baseball game. just wanted to say that strip clubs in Canada effing rule. Ok, curiosity got the better of me: Why? Loose rules, high % ABV beer and really hot women. Yup....lots of contact per dollar spent
  5. But, but we're more left-handed this year, so facing righties is no problem!!!
  6. Morgan saying the Cubs may have over-reacted to the playoff loss to the Dodgers.... He is actually saying somthing that I agree with
  7. Trying to remember when I've seen so many consecutive crap basehits
  8. Yeah, that's what I suspect as well, but there's still a part of me that wishes he had gotten the full season just to see "what if." Sure, it would have been interesting to see whether his development would've continued barring that injury. I have my doubts though. As someone else has pointed out, he had every tool one could want in a ballplayer...but he was/is sorely lacking in pitch recognition/plate discipline. IMO, he's had plenty of time to sort out those failings. That he hasn't done so implies strongly to me that he just isn't capable.
  9. He was very good in 03 before the injury. He had one hot month and was already coming back down to earth when he got hurt. He had a .216/.278/.284/.562 line in the 24 games before he got hurt, while having a .328/.348/.593/.941 before that 24 game stretch dropping his OPS from .941 to .839. I had forgotten about the dropoff he was going through. I wonder, had he not gotten hurt, if it was him returning to mediocrity or if he was just slumping? Given what he's done since then, I'd feel safe in the assumption it wasn't merely a slump
  10. Great outing by Demp, Fonty snapping out of his horrible funk & Reed chipping in as well. Lots to be happy about this game
  11. I'll probably regret asking, but what's he saying? (game blacked-out where I am) He's talking about Harden coming back and Marshall being moved to the bullpen as if it's a given. I really, really hope that is not going to happen. O.k., thanks.. FWIW, I agree that moving Marshall to the 'pen would be stupid, though prior to the most recent moves, I opined in a game thread that Marshall to the 'pen would be a price I was willing to pay if it meant Cotts was sent away. Now that Cotts is gone, however, I want to have my cake & eat it too--Marshall should stay in the rotation

  13. That's too many runs by the Cobs...I'll cut it in half & say they win 3 1/2 - 3 (Cobs awarded 1 1/2 runs on a Dempster solo shot a/c such a miraculous thing happened) GG Yeah, I was being mostly facetious....
  14. How creative will we be in stranding Bradley/Lee?
  15. I hate that FOX has this game blackout where I am this weekend, but it forces me to listen to Ron & Pat on Gameday Audio via my iPhone, and I sometimes forget how much I like listening to a radio broadcast
  16. Double [expletive], I get the Twins/Rays. I'm not fond of AL baseball
  17. That's too many runs by the Cobs...I'll cut it in half & say they win 3 1/2 - 3 (Cobs awarded 1 1/2 runs on a Dempster solo shot a/c such a miraculous thing happened)
  18. Yeah, at least Fox bungling plays in the field could be funny... not scoring is not so funny
  19. I'm fighting the urge to start advocating that the Cubs look to deal AWAY players; there just seems to be so much wrong with this team. I think we're more than a simple one or two players away. Ack, doesn't matter since the Cubs wouldn't start selling anyway
  20. Why because his manager is an idiot and is playing him against a lefty whos damn near impossible to hit for a left handed hitter? Noway in hell should Font be in against Wolf, and why the hell is Blanco hitting LH against a lefty pitcher? Play Fox for Christs sake I heard it's because he has a sore left shoulder and it's easier to hit from the left side with it...My question is, why is he in there then? Yea if thats the case play Scales. Lou really makes some terrible decisions. I mean seriously, Wolf is holding lefties to a .093 baa, but yet we have 2 in the lineup? And neither one of them is Kosuke...
