  1. This game seems like it would be unbelievably frustrating for Giants fans.
  2. "Fly ball to Heyward, who hey look, he's playing right field now, which we ignored because reasons. Anyways, two outs."
  3. So Heyward is coming in for Soler but Joe didn't put him in as a pinch runner?
  4. DIdn't end up mattering, but weird series of inaction from Joe there. Sitting down Monty and putting Wood in his place doesn't inspire a lot of confidence either.
  5. I mean, what is this, a C+ effort from the Cubs so far this series overall? And we're 9 outs away from sweeping?
  6. Derek Law just increased the Giants chance of winning this series from 3% to 4% and celebrated accordingly.
  7. Reverse splits for Law and Maddon didn't want to waste Contreras this early? That's about all I got. Nice job Matty V.
  8. I love how Smoltz thinks Jake Arrieta, career .519 OPS, is now the biggest threat in the Cubs lineup. Three lefties on the bench....weird call.
  9. He hit that hard. Unfortunately for them, none of the rest of their lineup would make our postseason roster (obviously except Bumgarner as a fourth starter).
  10. When does the Giants aura and confidence from their win on Wednesday kick in?
  11. It seems like Montero is stabbing a lot. Ball 4 and then the next pitch both looked like they crossed the plate. Combination of movement and iffy control, I'd assume.
  12. Accidentally hitting Addy is probably going to keep him from purposely hitting Javy, for better or for worse.
  13. I don't think we need to worry about it. Or if we do, it means things have gone really well. 2016 Jake isn't really someone who you feel comfortable with that deep, especially considering our other options.
  14. Yeah I'm still a little torn, but this year has been a big eye opener for me. The last few years they seemed to be building the organization around offense/home runs, and doing things like putting Schwarber and Contreras in the outfield just to get their bats in the lineup. At the same, they were more or less ignoring developing pitching, which I associated with defense. Then this year happens, and while we did more than enough offensively, I think most would agree the biggest factor of our dominance came on the pitching/defense side, and the .251 BAPIP stands out as the most staggering number. While I don't really care how much of it was a fluke, given that our offense is going to improve going forward, it really made me rethink my original 'horsefeathers defense' philosophy. That, and I'm still not convinced Heyward is totally broken offensively. Or that a very rusty Soler will give you much. But whatever, 2-0 lead and massive pitching advantage in Game 4...not going to freak out about this one.
  15. yes...just somehow make sure trea turner never sees 1B against lester (yeah yeah i know we're good at controlling the running game in lester starts now but still) Strasburg is a bit of a wild card, but overall I agree. Just getting Kershaw to pitch again in this series would be very beneficial too, even though he hasn't been his usual self lately.
  16. He'll have to wait until next year after Jake ends their year on Monday.
  17. Solemn Oath here. Revolution last night. Going to tour my way around Chicago....need 9 more.
