I agree. Fortunately, the trend is starting to shift as New York State has banned the use of metal bats in High School play recently. Baseball is meant to be played with wood bats. Yeah, but won't this hurt high school baseball there? I doubt that the inner city schools can pay for all of the wood bats the team will go through during a season. How much do wood bats cost? I thought they were in the $30 dollar range... Would it really make that much of a difference? The cheapest wood bats are about $20, but you definitely get what you pay for with wood bats. You can get lucky and find good wood bats for $50 on occasion but your really good (maple) bats are about $80. They do make composite wood bats that come with a one year warranty and those cost about $80, these are probably the most cost effective, but aren't pure wood and it depends upon the rules of the league if you can use them or not.
