Good on the Cubs for not making this deadline difficult for Hoyer.
As for Soto, much like Ohtani, there will be rumors of other teams be involved for his services but in the end Soto won't leave NY. The Cubs will throw a uninspiring offer his way, just so they "tried" and then Hoyer will proceed to his next mediocre plan.
Note: I do want Soto but this owner/president combo do not have the guts to actually pursue an elite talent.
