If the Cubs had signed him for that deal, this board would have melted down with the people who hated the deal. Many people on this board don't like committing a decent percentage of the payroll to the bullpen to the first place. They also don't like multi-year deals for relievers. They also don't like signing guys in their 30's to long-term contracts. Finally, many think the position of closer is overrated to begin with. Cordero fits under all of the above, and while he'll likely be pretty productive he's not productive enough to be that big of a percentage of the Reds overall payroll. What? You are talking about a team that was 29th in baseball in blown saves last year. A blown save can occur pretty much anytime a starter leaves the ballgame. Most are not necessarilly even the fault of the "closer." Ya think? The Reds issue really wasn't closer last year. Weathers was 33/38 in saves. However, this allows the Reds to move Burton to the 7th, Weathers to the 8th, and Cordero to the 9th. It lines up the middle innings nicely. That's the point. but you're paying 12 mil a year for it! that's what makes it a bad idea. -

and neither should anyone else Relax, it's a joke thread I made as a simple attempt at amusement. I'm not instigating any friction, as Rocket said obviously neither one of them really found it offensive or worth fighting over; they seem to have taken it as the joke it was intended to be. If you don't think its funny, amusing, or otherwise worthwhile - congratulations; that doesn't mean you have to complain about it. In fact, yours is the only negative comment in this entire thread. he does this in a lot of threads. btw, i think imb would make fun of omc so much that omc would probably either try and fight him or go home crying. -
and duke damn near doubled that %...not going to win when that happens.

yea, not peep from the bama fans in this area either...i even sent one i know an email (not even mean spirited...well, maybe a little) on myspace asking him what happened to the tide, he has yet to respond....i'm sure when he does it'll be some tirade about how illinois has never been good and that this year is just a fluke.

the belmont bruins went to alabama and beat the tide...they're not having a good week against inferior opponents, heh....but to be fair, belmont has a pretty decent squad this year and would give a few teams quite a bit of trouble.

Yeah, god forbid they show the last 5 seconds of a close game instead of a 20-0 lead in the first 6 minutes. How dumb. wouldn't have bothered me if it weren't already on another espn channel. The reason they were able to switch to bonus coverage is because it was on another ESPN channel. indeed...but i already have espnu...if i wanted to watch that game, i would have. well some of us dont. let me enjoy the 5 seconds of mizzou defeat i got to witness :( fair enough. p.s. the refs have stopped blowing their whistles in this game...lots of contact out there.
