  1. Tyler Colvin is now 0 for his last 20. He's all the way down to: .281/.342/.459/.801
  2. Man, they could have had Drew or Weaver...
  3. I go by typical title rules for starting threads. The thread title almost always has all words starting with capitals save for stuff like "the", "and", "to" and so on. Just a habit of mine. My mom - a copy editor/journalist - approves. :thumright:
  4. There are a few starting pitchers in the big leagues who have succeeded with only 2 pitches. And, of course, he has 3 pitches.
  5. Not to completely derail this thread completely, but briefly what happended to Matt Bush and how is he doing(assuming he is playing)? I know he got into some trouble after being drafted. Does he have a bad reputation or does it seem that was a one time thing? He's done horribly and had most of this season derailed by an ankle injury. Here are his stats this season at low-A Ft. Wayne. And here are his career minor league stats. Going into this season, he's been a career .217/.284/.273/.557 hitter in the AZL, NWL and MWL.
  6. Kevin Kreier was indeed the Cubs' 20th rounder. Based on what I found searching the net, it sounds like he'll be a probable DFE, and is headed to Western Nevada Community College. Here's BA's 20th round list, which shows Kreier as not signed yet.
  7. That's former 37th rounder RHP Andrew Miller of Seminole State College in the Padres system. Not the one in the Tigers system.
  8. Lakeland leads Daytona 1-0 in the 6th. Bicondoa: 6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 8 Ks.
  9. Quite a few did doubt his ability to succeed, saying, amongst other things, that he only had one pitch and that his FB wasn't good enough.
  10. I readily and freely admit that I did. Granted, this is only 2 games, and one of them was against the stankin' Pirates, but he has looked fantastic in both of those starts. Like I said when he was called up this time, I hope he makes me eat a buffet's-worth of crow. It's only good for the Cubs if they have a slew of young pitching/trading options going into next year. The stankin' Pirates are 4th in the NL against lefties in OPS and runs scored.
  11. Hamilton will have to repeat his dominance at Low A to be something, he turned 22 a week ago. Roth is a 23 year old that dominated Low A, not that high of an accomplishment. Oh yeah, both are pretty far away, but Pujols isn't going anywhere, so they don't need to rush either. BTW, why is wolves capitalized in the thread title? For the same reason "Plan" and "Throw" are capitalized?
  12. Iowa ends up winning it 10-5. West Tenn ends up losing it 6-3, Atlee takes the loss. Peoria gets 2 in the 9th but end up losing 7-4. A rough game in relief for Evenson, as he gave up 4 earned in 3 innings of work.
  13. Iowa has broken it open in the bottom of the 7th: A bases-loaded walk for Micah Hoffpauir scores Felix Pie. Then, Casey McGehee clears the bases with a 3-RBI double and then Jose Reyes gets an RBI single. It's now 10-3 in the top of the 8th. As DJAXX fan points out, Thomas Atlee and the Jaxx give up 5 in the bottom of the 7th and, after 8, are losing 6-3 in a game with huge playoff implications. In Geneva, Mitch Atkins is done after 3 rocky innings: 3 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 5 BBs, 1 K. Roger Evenson has given up 2 runs in 2 innings of relief and Peoria is now down 4-2 after 5.
  14. Iowa now up 5-3 in the bottom of the 7th, Shipman gave up a solo HR. And Felix leads off the bottom of the 7th with a walk! (He's 2 for 3 with a double and a BB.) Jaxx post a 3-spot in the top of the 7th! Richard Lewis leads off with a pinch single, is sacrificed over to second by Chris Walker and scores on an EPatt RBI triple. Then, Jake Fox follows with a 2-run shot to make it 3-1. They're now in the bottom of the 7th. Still 2-2 in the Peoria game, they're in the 4th out in Geneva.
  15. Great game, again, Rich. Even if you're only a 1-pitch pitcher and AAAA player.
  16. Iowa still leads 5-2 as we go to the 7th. Carolina still leads it 1-0 in the 7th. Peoria gets 2 in the top of the 3rd to jump ahead 2-1, but Atkins gives up a solo HR in the bottom of the 3rd and it's tied up at 2 as we go to the 4th. Atkins has given up an uncharacteristic 5 walks so far.
  17. O'Malley is working with the bases loaded and 2 outs in the 5th inning. He's given up a bases loaded walk to make it 5-2. He gets the third out of the inning on a popout. To the 6th we go, Iowa up 5-2. Meh, Pavlik gives up a run in the bottom of the 6th and Carolina takes the 1-0 lead, going into the 7th. Atkins gives up an unearned run in the first and Peoria is down 1-0 after 2.
  18. What about beachballs? :P I've popped my share. They're for idiots who don't want to pay attention to the game. Just like the wave.
  19. It's now 5-1 in favor of Iowa after 4, thanks to another Buck Coats RBI single. Pie grounded out to first in his most recent AB. It's still scoreless in the West Tenn game; they're now in the 6th. Pavlik: 5 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 4 K.
  20. Plus, it's on WGN for everyone to see. Why couldn't it be a CSN game? Who knows what those fans do when the games are on CSN.
  21. What the heck. I'm proud of going to Dodger/Padre games and not doing the wave and pointing out that Cubs fans don't resort to that nonsense.
  22. Not listening to the Iowa game but something happened. Termel Sledge hit an RBI ground-rule double and then was ejected, along with Portland's manager and pitcher Dewon Brazelton who wasn't even playing. Apparently it was originally ruled a 3-run HR and then changed to a ground-rule double. Not sure why Brazelton was ejected. Anyways, it's 4-1 Iowa in the bottom of the 3rd. And now another double for Restovich. But he's stranded. Iowa leads it 4-1 in the 4th now. WT and Carolina are scoreless through 4. Pavlik: 4 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K. Despite a leadoff triple in the top of the first by Davey Gregg, Peoria doesn't score and it's 0-0 in the bottom of the 1st.
