  1. He's also 19. You're also discounting any possibility of him putting on any extra bulk/velocity. You're also discounting the learning curve. Right now, I agree, the stats do not support a strong likelihood of him keeping up what he's doing now as he progresses. But your analysis is entirely too one-dimensional. Your coin example doesn't relate to either side of the argument whatsoever, as there's far more variables than what you'll get out of a coin-toss. Your condesencion isn't making you look any smarter either. KC mentioned Taylor's age as a positive in his post - I took it to mean the exact thing you're pointing out at the beginning of your post.
  2. With today's game, he's at 102 for his career between Mesa and Boise. Here are his stats for this season(not including today's game). If you scroll to the bottom, you can see his stats from last season at Mesa and Boise.
  3. Yes, I'm sure the reason Cedeno didn't throw the ball was because he was protecting himself from another error. Not the fact that Miles was 2 steps away when he was getting ready to throw it.
  4. Chris Walker ties the all-time Jaxx record for hits in a season (142). Jaxx are all tied up at 4 in the bottom of the 6th.
  5. Scott Taylor isn't left-handed.
  6. Heh. Butler sounded solid today.
  7. He came to camp out of shape. I see. Thanks Raisin. :) To be fair, he's come on strong at Boise and has worked well with the pitching coach there (David Rosario) to the adjustments he has needed to. I'm sure the Cubs wish he was at Peoria instead but he's had a solid season. Well, if its not too late, maybe its time to give him one start at the Low-A level ala Gallagher in Daytona last year. Pawelek's out-of-shapeness led to him having an ineffective June going 0-3, 5.06 with 7 Ks and 6 BBs in 10.1 innings. But since the calender turned to July, it has been a different story. In 9 starts (and 11 appearances) Mark is 3-2 with a 1.79 ERA. In 45.1 IP, he has given up just 34 hits while striking out 40 and walking 17. He's been fairly consistent over the last two months. What harm would there be in that? I doubt his out-of-shapeness led to his struggles at his season at Boise. He had a few months to get back in to shape before the season started. He was having control problems, supposedly related to his mechanics and has fixed them. There's no harm in having him promoted to Peoria. He definitely should be able to handle it. The reason it won't happen is because Boise is in first place by 3.5 games and should go to the playoffs. Let Pawelek get his playoff atmosphere at the level and team he's been with all season.
  8. .336 OBP is not pretty darn good for a leadoff hitter.
  9. Ron, you're coming in staticy still. :( --------------------- Scott Moore is starting at first base. According to Ron, Moore will be getting a lot of time during the rest of the season at first base and shortstop, not just third base.
  10. Boise wins it 14-1, scoring 8 in the 9th inning thanks in part to two Yakima errors. It's Mark Pawelek's third professional win.
  11. Tyler Colvin with a 3-run HR in the top of the 7th and Boise now leads it 6-1 in the top of the 8th. Colvin: 1 for 4, HR (6), 3 RBI, 2 Ks Canzler: 1 for 3, HR (15), BB, RBI
  12. I think yes because the one thing people who vote "know" about Ortiz is that every Red Sox game is won in the bottom of the 9th with a walk-off 7-run HR. And the walk-off HRs travel 1365.7 happy feet.
  13. His defense is not that bad. Unless, your talking about his arm? Again, 0 errors in CF this year. Just because he has 0 errors doesn't mean he's great defensively. He has a poor arm and gets bad reads/poor jumps on fly balls, which means he doesn't get to as many flyballs as he should given his speed.
  14. Peoria scores 2 in the 7th (Carter BB, Reed BB, Heredia single, and back-to-back RBI grounds out by Chirinos and Valdez). They lose 6-3, get swept in the doubleheader. Quad Cities make the playoffs.
  15. Will they vote for a DH, though?
  16. Peoria down 6-1 after 6. Quad Cities will clinch a playoff spot if they hold on. Mitch Atkins: 5+ IP, 4 ER, 7 H, 2 BB, 3 K - 2 of the runs charged to Atkins scored on a 3-run HR off Jon Mueller.
  17. Last time I checked, you win with offense too. Pitching and defense, is more important than offense. If you dont have a solid pitching staff supported with a solid defense, your not going to win many baseball games. Tell that to the 2004 Boston Red Sox.
  18. Russ Canzler!! He hits his 15th HR to lead off the 6th inning!! He ties Todd Greene for the Boise all-time HR record in a single season (and he also ties the NWL lead). Mark Pawelek's day is indeed over. His final line: 5 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 6 K. Jason Ruhlman now in for Boise. 3-1 Boise in the middle of the 6th.
  19. In the top of the 5th, Matt Matulia with a 2-run double to score Matt Canepa and Matt Camp. That's a lot of Matts in one play. Boise leads it 2-0 in the middle of the 5th. Tyler Colvin 0/3, 2 Ks Pawelek's 5th: Double. FC, 3-unassisted. Great diving stop by Canzler. Runner to third. RBI single. Stolen base. Ground out, 4-3. Nice play by Clevenger at second base. Runner to third. Soft lineout to third base. 5 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 6 K After 5, Boise leads Yakima 2-1. Mark will probably be done for the day or go out for the 6th on a short leash.
  20. Pawelek's fourth inning: Single to LF. FC, 5-4. K. Lineout to LF. 4 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 6 K Still 0-0.
  21. Peoria and Quad Cities are tied at 1 after 4. Peoria scored their run on a wild pitch. Atkins: 4 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 1 BB, 3 K. Pawelek's third inning: Single to RF. K. K. Groundout, 1-3 (after Puello dropped a foul pop up that would have been the third out). Mark: 3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 BB, 5 K. Boise is scoreless in the middle of the 4th.
  22. College girls are whores for athletes?? Shocking. I love the parents bit.
  23. Boise scoreless after 2. Pawelek's second inning: Groundout, 5-3. K. BB. K. 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 BB, 3 K
  24. There aren't too many Jamie Moyers though. That's what I'd have thought. Although, the guys Scott is ahead of in your list haven't been too inspiring.
