  1. Garciaparra, Thome win 2006 Major League Baseball Comeback Player of the Year Award presented by Viagra Err, viagra?
  2. They obviously don't want your money.
  3. I'm more interested in the bench coach for the Red Sox, Brad Mills. Especially if it means Ron Jackson can be the Cubs' hitting coach. Blame MOJ for getting me on the bandwagon.
  4. Questionable personnel decisions - especially in terms of pitching, staters vs. relievers. Dusty-like in treating young pitcher's health (brought a rookie back into a game after an 80-minute rain delay!) Might be too Buck Showalter-like in terms of discipline. Conventional thinking on the SABR side of things (though I think we're not sure how conventional he really is). Pro-Girardi folks give him too much credit for the Marlins' relative success in 2006. All in all, I don't think we personally have enough information to be decidedly pro or anti-Girardi without allowing some bias to come in.
  5. Was it McFadden? He's good. How's Mustain doing? He's on my bench in my fantasy league and I know he already threw a 50-yard TD pass.
  6. Throughout his time at ODU and in the minors, Verlander had a fastball, his curve and a change. I don't think I've ever read a thing about Verlander throwing a knuckle curve, from the draft on. Makes sense if the Tigers asked him to limit the number of breaking balls he threw this season.
  7. Haha, I bet the Yankees wish that Kenny Rogers had pitched yesterday and not the one who did pitch yesterday.
  8. Runners at second and third and none out. What do the Padres do? Giles grounds out, 1-3. Runners hold. Piazza jammed on a 3-1 pitch and grounds it to Pujols, who throws out Roberts at home. Piazza picked off at first on a snap throw by Molina. The Padres should just go home now.
  9. Hahahhahahahaha. Great defense, Duncan. The Fathers better score with runners at second and third and none out.
  10. What a novel idea!! If Hendry really is interested in Bochy, I hope for our sake, Bruce figures this out.
  11. I'm mad that I didn't get Juice in time off the waiver wire in my college fantasy league. And the guy starting against me has him. :x
  12. Arkansas up 10-0 on Auburn in the first. EDIT: 10-7 now in the second quarter.
  13. I just got tickets to the game and my first thought? Crap, I'm going to miss the Oregon-Cal game. :(
  14. Hah, I knew that! Jackson ahead of Main?
  15. Might as well make this an all things Cubs prospects-related thread:
  16. What type of contract do you see Edmonds getting?
  17. His K numbers should go up the longer he's in the big leagues - I didn't realize he had so few strikeouts this year. Verlander had good strikeout totals at Old Dominion (K/9: 10.91, 10.75, 12.86) and in the minors last season (10.36). I didn't realize he had so few strikeouts this year.
  18. Just because he's going to be better than Juan Pierre doesn't mean it's a selling point. And of course people are going to be concerned about an aging player who has had his production go down drastically over the course of the past two seasons (and who has been injured too).
  19. Terry Francona. Brad Mills. Hitting Coach: Ron Jackson (so probably not Francona)
  20. Apparently there's some friction between the former Jaxx and the Chattanooga Lookouts over Homer Bailey's beaning Chris Walker:
