  2. Also, we're going to the hospital tomorrow because my very pregnant wife is going to be induced. You kids are on your own for minor league game threads. Don't burn the forum down while I'm gone.
  3. Scheduled Games (All Times Central): Iowa at Salt Lake, 7:35 p.m. Tennessee at Jackson, 6:05 p.m. Myrtle Beach vs. Lunchburg, 6:05 p.m. South Bend at Peoria, 6:30 p.m. Probable Starters: Iowa: TBA Tennessee: RHP Zach Hedges (34.2 IP, 2.60 ERA, 2.90 FIP, 3.14 xFIP, 23 K, 5 BB) Myrtle Beach: LHP Justin Steele (26.1 IP, 3.42 ERA, 5.01 FIP, 4.99 xFIP, 18 K, 13 BB) South Bend: RHP Dylan Cease (28.2 IP, 1.88 ERA, 2.71 FIP, 3.00 xFIP, 43 K, 16 BB) No starter is listed for either Iowa (Eddie Butler's turn) or Tennessee but it's Zach Hedges' turn. I wonder if Hedges could get called up to Iowa.
  4. horsefeathers that. Josh Rosen's off-field concerns are that he thinks college athletes should be paid and he wore a F*** Trump hat when golfing at a Trump golf course. He's apparently a big partier although I'm not sure that should be a big deal, depending on how under or out of control it is. Is this because of the hot tub? That's just the kid being super rich. He's no bigger a party guy than most college athletes.
  5. This would be very shortsighted on my Maddon's part.
  6. BA top 100 prospect list after one month: http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/top-100-prospects-updated-may-11/?amphtml=1 11. Eloy Jimenez 55. Ian Happ 90. Dylan Cease TT, look away. Gleyber is #2 overall. Adrian Morejon, who the Cubs were very interested in signing but couldn't pull off, is ranked #91.
  7. Agreed. Would love to be wrong but I much prefer Montgomery starting.

  9. Yeah, I think it should be Cease Thursday but right now Manuel Rondon is listed (he only went 1 inning in his last appearance because it was a continuation of a suspended game that didn't last long). MiLB.com now has Cease going Friday.
  10. Yeah, I really want Hiura to fall to the Cubs. Maybe the threat of TJS will do it. Pearson seems intriguing. Also, interested in David Peterson, Brendon Little and Wil Crowe.

  13. It's not like last year's team 103-win team didn't go through a 5-15 stretch with abysmal pitching. Just have to hope this is a similar rough patch and nothing worse or more prolonged.
  14. This organization just never seems to do well on the road in the NL West. Very frustrating.
  15. Wow, they get 3 runs on a blooper and we only get a base on a ball off the wall. Not even the Green Monster.
  16. Normally being in Coors I wouldn't put much into a bad start from anyone, but Jake and the rest of the rotation (except Lester) might just all suck/be hurt. Jake didn't look too bad. Multiple bloopers and a shitty throw/questionable decision by Javy.

  19. Also their arms are ticking time bombs so if they're anywhere near ready, you might as well get whatever innings you can out of them in the big leagues. Isn't there a counter-argument that pushing a top pitching prospect too fast could be detrimental since those innings in the big leagues could be so stressful? I mean I'm all for pushing talented pitching prospects when they're ready, but I don't agree with how the Marlins handled and promoted J. Fernandez. I mean it did work out, but I don't think that's the right approach for most pitching prospects. PS -- I really, really like how the Dodgers are handling J. Urias and limiting his innings/workload (even if it is costing them in the standings right now). The Dodgers have had to bring along Urias slower because he logged so few innings in the minors. Plus, he made his big league debut in a playoff race, was pushed past the number of innings the Dodgers ideally wanted him to throw in his rookie season, so he had a stressful big league debut too. All that said, he made it to the majors at a younger age than Fernandez. And let me add, when Fernandez made the Marlins opening day roster, I thought they were nuts. I came around on this one.
