  2. The South Bend game started out odd:
  3. Kevonte Mitchell is back off the DL and has a double too.
  4. 10th round: Luke Reynolds, 3B, Southern Miss (junior) BA ranked him 404:
  5. Poor Bryce Montes de Oca had two elbow surgeries in college and just got drafted by the Mets.
  6. 8th rounder: Zach Mort, RHP, George Mason U (junior)
  7. They probably aren't as cheap as your traditional senior signs but they would be good picks. Well, Montes de Oca still would be - I can imagine him moving quickly as a reliever. Yeah, I could see either playing Indy ball for a year if they only get offered $5K. But the Cubs don't need to underslot that much, or at least they shouldn't at this point. Montes de Oca can go back to Mizzou for another year as a redshirt senior if he wanted
  8. Damn. A's picked Schwartz. They probably aren't as cheap as your traditional senior signs but they would be good picks. Well, Montes de Oca still would be - I can imagine him moving quickly as a reliever.
  9. I haven't seen anything like that. Part of the problem with the latter question is some of the folks who work in publications have moved on, either to MLB scouting departments or to other publications (such as Jim Callis from BA to MLB.com), so you can't fairly compare publication to publication.
  10. 7th rounder is another CF. DJ Artis, CF, Liberty U (VA) - MLB.com rank #136 BA ranks him #149:
  11. Not necessarily - college relievers to tend to fall unless they can make it to the bigs in less than a year (which teams are starting to realize is rare).
  12. Let's not mention the other ones that didn't work out... Yeah, I know -- Underwood is still a prospect and has a chance to reach the majors. I'm not high on the other guys on that list. Eh, Underwood should reach the majors and Cease was a hit. Even if Hudson and Estrada are busts, you have to think 2 out of 7 is a pretty good hit rate for prep prospects. I think Steele should make the majors too - early results from return from TJS seem good and if he returns healthy, he'll be at AA by next season.
  13. 6th rounder: Kohl Franklin, RHP, Broken Arrow HS (OK) Not ranked by BA or MLB.com Same HS as Arizona's Archie Bradley. Overslot? 6'4" pitcher.
  14. The 7-figure bonus overslots under this regime were Underwood in the 2nd round in 2012; Sands (4th), Steele (5th) and Cease (6th) in 2014; Hudson (3rd) and Wilson (4th) in 2015; and Estrada (6th) in 2017. Hannemann got seven figures as well as a 3rd rounder. 2013 I think? Yes he did. I was trying to limit it to prep guys.
  15. The Tennessee rotation now has four 2016 draft picks (Hatch - 3rd, Robinson - 9th, Rucker - 11th and Swarmer - 19th round). The Myrtle Beach rotation now has three 2017 draft picks (Lange - 1st, Abbott - 2nd and Thompson - 3rd round)
  16. Both Cease and Estrada were 6th-round picks. Maybe this will be the round? D.J. Wilson was 4th round, he's the only other million-dollar superslot I can recall. (Well, obviously Sands and Steele, too...) The 7-figure bonus overslots under this regime were Underwood in the 2nd round in 2012; Sands (4th), Steele (5th) and Cease (6th) in 2014; Hudson (3rd) and Wilson (4th) in 2015; and Estrada (6th) in 2017.
