  1. Man I hope he falls to us It’s wild - FG has Veen at 7 and BA at 26. BA knocked him down recently, saying it was because of swing-and-miss issues that popped up last summer.
  2. Here’s the list: http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2020?list=prospects FYI, Paredes was 100 for BA and Lowe, Díaz and Stephenson didn’t make their list.
  3. Players We Believe Could Make The 2021 Top 100:
  4. MLB Pipeline will release their top 100 this Saturday.
  5. Amaya and Roederer each made BA's top 198: https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/notable-mlb-prospects-who-missed-the-2020-top-100/ If you're scouting Amaya's stat line, he had a down year but if you consider his league/ballpark, he was well above league average. And that doesn't even consider his age and defense.
  6. No Amaya, look at the post just above yours. I have issues with BA (they’ve lost a LOT of good talent) but they’re likely going to be the highest of national publications this offseason, both with number of prospects in the top 100 and highest ranking with Brailyn at 37. I’m with you - I think the big 4 all are top 100 prospects but it doesn’t appear as though any major publication agrees.
  7. BA’s of 100 list is out. The Cubs have two top-40 prospects, three in the top 100: https://www.baseballamerica.com/rankings/2020-top-100-prospects/ 37. Brailyn Márquez 40. Nico Hoerner 94. Brennen Davis
  8. I like Gonzalez and Mitchell a lot. Gonzalez’ bat is electric, Mitchell has a lot of intriguing tools and if he can play CF well this year, he’d be a very exciting prospect. Would love to go the Cease route with Fulton.

  10. Badler did his IFA review of the Cubs today: https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/2019-20-mlb-international-reviews-chicago-cubs/ Ronnier Quintero is an offensive-minded catcher. Above average bat speed, plus raw power, raw arm strength (60 arm) but the rest of his defense lags behind Kevin Made ($1.5 million bonus) has quick hands, strong wrists and has a high contact rate due to hand-eye coordination and a selective approach. 70 arm, should stick at SS Brayan Altuve is a great athlete, plus runner with good catch-and-throw skills to stay at C. High baseball IQ. Plus bat speed. Christian More ($400k bonus) and Felix Stevens ($250k bonus) signed before 7/2 out of Cuba and played in the DSL last season. Sleepers: 17-year old Venezuelan SS Luis Maza and 19-year old Dominian RHP Edgar Mercedes ($10k bonus). Merecedes is 6'8" and can hit 97 mph.
  11. 1. Brailyn Márquez 2. Nico Hoerner 3. Brennen Davis 4. Miguel Amaya 5. Chase Strumpf 6. Cole Roederer 7. Ryan Jensen 8. Ethan Hearn 9. Riley Thompson 10. Cory Abbott They dropped a 60 FV on Brailyn. Considering how consistently they rated Hoerner in the top 50 all season, it’s reasonable to expect BA will have two Cubs in their top 50 with Brailyn on the fast track for top 20 midseason if he can stay healthy.
  12. BA has their Cubs' top 10 list coming out on 12/2. BP has theirs coming out on 1/7. We usually have a specific thread each year so let's try to toss all of them in here.
  13. Just wanted to say Jay Chandrasekhar is a family friend of mine. And he's a Cubs fan.
  14. Based on what happened this offseason and everything that's available on Scott Harris, he had clearly jumped ahead of McLeod in this regime's view.
  15. Fun...I think Jensen opens in MB next year and their rotation looks like: Jensen Marquez Thompson Carrera Sanders to open the year with Little as the piggyback guy to Thompson and/or Sanders hopefully not for long. McAvene's a good WC too, he's probably good enough to skip SB too but yeah I'd lean towards him opening the year in SB. Albertos at MB makes sense to me. Jake Slaughter should get an A ball job over Byrd...Wouldn't be surprised to see Ocampo in SB... SB rotation something like: McAvene Franklin Clarke/Nahas Ocampo Cruz That AAA pitching staff looks useful Yeah, this is great. I think Marquez (Tennessee vs MB) and Jensen (MB vs SB) will be the most interesting decisions next spring, unless someone surprises.
  16. BA's draft report card for the Cubs: https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/chicago-cubs-2019-mlb-draft-report-card/ Best Pure Hitter: Chase Strumpf Best Power: Ethan Hearn Fastest Runner: Zac Taylor Best Defensive Player: Ethan Hearn Best Athlete: Zac Taylor Best Fastball: Ryan Jensen Best Secondary Pitch: Chris Clarke Best Pro Debut: Michael McAvene Most Intriguing Background: Ryan Reynolds and Grayson Byrd (sons of Shane Reynolds and Paul Byrd, respectively) Closest to the Majors: Ryan Jensen or Michael McAvene Best Late-Round Pick: Zac Taylor The One Who Got Away: Wyatt Hendrie
  17. Well, that’s interesting
  18. Will be interesting to see if the Cubs add Pereda to the 40-man. I'd do it at the expense of Taylor Davis.
