  1. Jared Kelley is still on board. I could see guys like Cade Horton or Carson Montgomery in the mix - both have commitments that could require big money to buy out. There's a few others. I actually like the idea of Cade Horton to the Orioles with one of their picks. Tanner Witt's still on board. There's a lot of HS guys that could need big dollars to not go to college. Yes and even with pick 30 going for Westburg there’s ways they can add a lot of overslot talent still. But it definitely felt like Bitsko was their plan A. I would guess they take at least two big swings in the rest of their draft. Maybe I’m not in the majority, but I preferred Austin Wells to Kjerstad. It’s definitely the minority but I’m with you one preferring Wells.
  2. 0% chance he signs, or 0% chance he opts for college? Derwood, read the room. In Derwood’s defense, I responded incorrectly since he asked how likely he’d sign. It’s close to 100% likely. Dwrwood, almost all these kids have a college commitment because a) they get recruited as underclassmen when they don’t know if they’ll be good enough to get drafted early and b) it’s yood leverage. Teams do their homework early, especially in the capped era. These days, you see maybe a couple of guys in the first 3 rounds not sign every year, and rarely see a first rounder not sign.
  3. Once Cleveland passed a super young guy, I thought for sure he was being shunted to a team with a big pool.
  4. Don't want to read too much into it but I assume he'll be around slot.
  5. I'd put him behind Davis, Hoerner, Marquez and Amaya and would probably put him behind Hernandez when Christian signs. But those first four guys are generally (but not universally) considered top 100 prospects.
  6. Fangraphs/Eric Longenhagen has him at 11 with a 45+ FV:
  7. The normal % of most prep kids picked in the 1st round, close to 0%.
  8. I’m happy with it. He’ll stick at short, good floor for a prep kid.
  9. I expect Baltimore is just saving money to go overslot later. But I don’t trust Miami to not be pinching pennies.
  10. https://twitter.com/keithlaw/status/1270812880745697281?s=21 Keith Law updated his mock just now. Went from Foscue this morning to PCA.
  11. This guy is with Prospects Live. First time I’ve seen Jones mentioned with the Cubs.
  12. Sigh. Eric’s new mock. Abel, Bitsko, Hendrick and Mitchell all were available.
  13. Each list is going to be different based on what the person creating it prefers. Additionally, Longehagen is based in the Phoenix area so he's far more well-versed on Cubs prospects who are in Arizona a lot (guys who are at instructs, played in the AZL recently, new draft picks, etc). It's probably why he's sticking with guys who've struggled recently but had AZL success in the past, like Ademan, Albertos and Reivaj Garcia. Also, I'm not sure Martinez, Verdugo, K. Thompson and Ademan in the 20s is that big a surprise. The last part with the blurb about the state of the organization was very nice to see. It's conformation from a national guy that the farm system is on the rise and the changes we've heard about so much are putting them on the right track:
