  1. Apples to oranges. Hernández was probably 14 or 15 when he agreed to his contract and should have been 16 when he signed (turned 17 last month), Howard was 18. The Cubs had more funds to sign Howard then Hernández: IFA bonus pool for the Cubs this year was $5,348,100 while the draft pool was $7,057,680 with the 5% overage. Hernández signed for the 5th largest IFA bonus while Howard signed for slot value at pick 16.
  2. Kiely McDaniel: https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/30716726/the-next-vlad-jr-juan-soto-names-know-mlb-international-signing-day Carlos Colmenarez and Willin Díaz were 1-2. Kiley only ranked his top 10 but had Moises Ballesteros amongst a big group of prospects in a 35+ or 40 FV tier.
  3. These guys have officially signed per BA: First time I’ve heard of Ramos.
  4. Only $3 million. Cubs have $2,348,100 left.
  5. Ben Badler has linked the Cubs to another smaller IFA signing in tomorrow’s class: Raino Coran, an outfielder from Curaçao. Their names we know from the class that opens tomorrow: SS Christian Hernández, Dominican Republic - around $3.5 million bonus C Moises Ballesteros, Venezuela - around $1.2 million OF Daniel Ferreira, Dominican Republic LHP Carlos Cabrera, Venezuela OF Oferman Hernández, Dominican Republic OF Raino Coran, Curaçao
  6. You'd like it a lot more if the Bulls could ever attract a top 5 player.

  8. Time to mortgage the future even more for another 8-8!
  9. “Besides wins and losses.” Other than that, how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln?
  10. Yeah, the concern here is what will a desperate GM - one who already seems to poorly evaluate draft capital and limited funds in a capped league - do when everyone knows he's on the hot seat. We shouldn't be surprised though since this ownership group has been slow on this front except during the especially bad Trestman era.
  11. Why do people keep suggesting this? You can't tell 18-year-old kids where they are and aren't allowed to go to school. It's a ridiculous concept. Similarly, I've seen cutting football scholarships again as a suggestion, and that's just not going to happen. The optics of yanking 1,300 scholarships (10 x 130 FBS schools) overnight are awful, and even if the NCAA mandated those 10 scholarships go to other sports instead, it's just not going to get through the court of public opinion. You aren't telling them where they can and can't go to school. If Bama doesn't have room, they can still attend the school they just won't be able to play football. They probably won't because they want to play football. Just like if a normal high school student doesn't get into the med program of their choice, they can still attend that school if they get accepted into a different program, they just can't study medicine. They probably won't because they want to study medicine. But regardless schools have enrollment limits just like football programs have scholarship limits. That said, I dont think the idea will work for a few other reasons. You better start paying the players appropriately if you want to do this [expletive]. (You should pay them anyways.)
  12. Dane Brugler 2 round mock draft: https://theathletic.com/2316582/2021/01/12/nfl-mock-draft-devonta-smith/#click=https://t.co/GqHR1gsv1K
  13. You mean having an ILB trying to cover him is the wrong move? Putting a 1st Round talent CB on him doesn't work either I know he’s been mocked into the first in some places but I would be disappointed if my team took Wade in the first.
  14. #32 for Ohio State with the dirty play there on the Najee touchdown.
  15. Really wanted Rothlisberger to throw a 5th pick so I could force a Ben Folds 5 joke.
