  1. I spent the second half watching Cade Cunningham highlights.
  2. Will you be posting an update in 2:06?
  3. He's definitely not universally considered the #1 FA. Fangraphs has him ranked 39th (and 28th if you don't consider the players in Asia on their board). BA has him ranked 12th. The FG preview: Thinking about numerous Cuban prospects over the years (from Puig who surprised positively to Eddy Martinez who surprised negatively), I think the note on the error bar is a pretty valid point. My bad. I read elsewhere that he's the #1 guy. Sorry I haven't been paying all that much attention TBH Thats a lousy profile. 4 years since facing live pitching and trouble with velo as-is. I wonder if there's thoughts of him converting to the mound if the bat falters. Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk He is MLB Pipeline's #1 guy. Looks like opinions are pretty varied on him.
  4. Man thats cheap for #1 IFA Sent from my SM-N960U using Tapatalk He's definitely not universally considered the #1 FA. 5. https://www.mlb.com/news/yoelqui-cespedes-white-sox-deal?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage Yoelqui Céspedes, Yoenis’ half brother, is expected to sign with the White Sox for nearly $2 million.
  6. Man, I really like Darrisaw and Slater (his arm size wasn't an issue against Chase Young in 2019). If they do draft Lance, I hope they do it knowing how raw he is and planning on an offense that will highlight his strengths. Seems iffy that Nagy can do that.
  7. Kmet has had it locked down all of like 2 games and plenty of good teams utilize 2 TE's. (we can basically do this about every position of we wanna be bearish enough). From a practical perspective I think Pitts is the only TE that will go high and it will likely be in the top 10. But if he drops to the mid first you probably have a compelling value case on your hands. Agreed. If Pitts is there in the teens, you take him and easily scheme him in with Kmet. CB (Fuller and Johnson + Vildor and Shelley are decent depth even after Skrine is cut) and RB (Montgomery + poor positional value in the first round) are the only positions I would be shocked to see the Bears pick in the first round.
  8. That's pretty much where I am. The emergence of the interior OL, Trubisky and Montgomery is objectively a good thing, but it's somehow made the future of the team even less clear. It's cemented the mediocrity hell even harder. I like rooting for Trubisky. I like the idea of sticking with a QB we've drafted. I think he's shown he's better than Foles, and that he's capable of being serviceable if the rest of the offense isn't a tire-fire (and apparently Nagy's playcalling was a problem). But that just makes things even more awkward, because 1) he's still not the Franchise QB we want and 2) He's not under contract and Foles is, and Foles' contract was backloaded to hell. We're already in enough of a cap space crunch as it is without trying to figure out how we're going to make room for Mitchy T. The defense looks old and thin, and we knew going into the season the defense looked old and thin, and it's not gonna get less old and thin next year. We're in a really awkward spot because I don't think we have an gaping holes. There's no wildly sub-replacement units that we can fix and suddenly get way better. It's just a raging sea of mediocrity all across the roster, and not a lot of cap space to fix it. I guess maybe you just run it back, try to have a good draft, and figure out where you are after next year? If you resign Trubisky, you can draft EDGE or WR in the 1st round, depending on who is there. That frees up letting Arob go or trading Mack. If you draft OL, you will likely have to bring Arob back. Or, you simply BPA the pick I guess the point is if Trubisky plays himself into a new contract you have more options than if he flat out sucked and you HAVE to draft QB in the 1st. OTs are still the biggest weakness on offense. And that's before you consider they might cut Massie or even Leno for cap savings so I'm really hopeful they address OT in the first round if they can't get an adequately-rated QB.
  9. Because "tanking" and "blowing it up" has become common phrases for sports teams.
  10. It was a botched snap on the PAT.
  11. No Jaylon on Sunday.
  12. Seems so unlike Brian Kelly to not care for others' lives.
  13. Am I crazy if I see a more polished version of Jimmy Butler when he came into the league? I also don't think Lauri is a good fit with this team. He either needs to hit open 3s or be able to be a small ball 5, and it doesn't look like he can do either. Lol, if I squint, I can see a little Kawhi there so I might be crazier. And I'm with you on Lauri. I'd love to get whatever I can for him as soon as possible, before he completely tanks his trade value.
  14. Well horsefeathers, Patrick Williams just might be the best player in this class.
  15. Longehagen had similar comments about his on-field behavior in the Fangraphs draft board you posted a few posts ago. ETA: Max Ferguson would be a steal at 42 (BA has him in the 40s too).
  16. I'd prefer someone like Grossman over JBJ but it's nice to see the Cubs linked to a free agent who I assume would expect to be paid with actual US dollars and not Stanley Nickels.
  17. Mets and Dodgers amongst teams with a high scouting preference after he popped up. Not sure the Cubs have much left for a pop up guy since they have somewhere between $4.2-$5 million already set aside or Hernandez and Ballesteros and teams like the Cardinals and White Sox have a lot left for pop ups and Cuban defectors. Jarlin Susana is expected to sign with the Padres for $1.5 million but will have to wait till the 2021-22 signing period because the Padres don't have bonus space.
  18. Some highlights from the chat: Roederer was never at the alternate site. I assume Glaser means instructs: Cory Abbott ranked 11th on the BA list. Chase Strumpf's arm strength has improved and his arm is now good enough for third base.
  19. Should've been Colorado even if they're in the South too.
  20. The Athletic had a piece last week where they said the layoff would definitely hurt hitters more for the reasons you said. Hitters couldn't face much (if any) live pitching while pitchers were not only able to throw without needing a hitter around, they could even experiment with grips and work on pitch design. They also said teams that have great tech/video infrastructure were expected to succeed even more because the player development infrastructure was able to check in routinely. In a separate Athletic article, it was mentioned the Cubs have a pretty good app that all their minor leaguers have access to that was rolled out a few years ago. I saw a few minor leaguers quoted as saying the app was very helpful.
