    So 4 Cubs in Pipeline’s top 100 now (PCA 27, Alcántara 86, Davis 91, Horton 100).

Iowa PPD again. At least Tennessee and Myrtle Beach get started tomorrow too.

The Cubs have a pool of $5,152,200 in 2024, amongst the 8 lowest teams.

I don’t think it’s too hot-takey (especially considering there were so many other options for that pick) but I do think it might be a bit too early to take these rankings too seriously, especially since Horton is intentionally being stretched out slowly due to a likely innings cap and hasn’t had a chance to show much in Arizona yet.

That’s some of it. They’re picking 13th in the first round and have the 19th biggest bonus. They lost pick 49 (their second rounder) for Dansby but gained pick 68 (between the 2nd and 3rd) for losing Willson. The White Sox definitely jumped the Cubs because of Swanson. The Giants and Red Sox jumped the Cubs partially for not signing a QO free agent but also for getting comp picks for losing Rodón, Boagerts and Eovaldi. Tampa, Milwaukee and Baltimore jumped the Cubs because they got additional competitive balance picks and the Mariners jumped them due to a competitive balance pick and a prospect promotion incentive pick (Julio Rodríguez).

José Rijo had 5!? Sounds like only Venters made it back to the bigs after his 3rd.

Confirmed that it’s TJS (his third):

Smokies roster (what a fun rotation - Wicks, Brown, Palencia, Jensen and Hodge): Sounds like Herz and Leigh aren’t too far behind:

Will be interesting since 4 catchers on one roster is excessive and Hearn and Opitz are thought of highly defensively.

Howard is still rehabbing and staying back in Arizona.

Threw 60 pitches yesterday so he should be on track to go to an affiliate. Arizona Phil did call his appearance a SB tuneup.

Birdsell is stretched out and with the SB group, per Arizona Phil. Mena can’t hit to get out of Arizona, also per Phil.
