  1. Best pitching prospect in baseball. Don’t waste pitching bullets in the minors:
  2. Leiter pitched yesterday (only 1 inning) so I wonder if Kilian is a realistic option for the doubleheader.
  3. Scheduled Game (All Times Central): Iowa vs St. Paul, 12:08 pm - on Marquee Tennessee vs Birmingham, 6:15 pm Sourh Bend at Dayton (resumption of yesterday’s game - SB leads 3-0 in the 6th), TBD South Bend at Dayton, TBD Myrtle Beach vs Delmarva, 6:05 pm Iowa: RHP Cam Sanders South Bend: RHP Manuel Espinoza Myrtle Beach: LHP Luke Little
  4. https://www.thecubreporter.com/06012022/cubs-no-hit-dbacks-riverview Looks like Ismael Mena is back in box scores in Arizona too.
  5. DJ only went 5 innings, not 6. But either way, that’s very exciting. The answer to your question - Brailyn had a 14 K, 0 BB, 1 H outing over 6 innings back in 2019
  6. Swarmer will probably take Smyly’s spot. Won’t they still need another with another DH vs the Cardinals Saturday? Hendricks Thompson Stroman Swarmer/? Steele gets us to the off day. Oh, that’s right. Well, I guess it could be Mills who gets the start for Iowa today.
  7. The math works out for Kilian today(but it also worked out yesterday). Iowa didn’t list a starter so I’m not sure. Both today and tomorrow’s games are on Marquee so we should see him. If it’s Kilian today, it’ll be Cam Sanders tomorrow.
  8. Here’s where I got my Devers info from: https://northsidebound.com/2022/02/10/affiliate-sneak-peeks-myrtle-beachs-rotation-looks-to-young-and-legit/ He was 91-93 last fall before the increase in velocity and his change was decidedly his third pitch back then (per Arizona Phil’s fall write ups), so that would great news if his change has improved. Bryan Smith logged Devers Ks yesterday and the changeup definitely played a prominent role: https://www.bleachernation.com/cubs/2022/06/01/five-stars-of-the-cubs-farm-5-31-22-the-day-kevin-alcantara-hit-one-very-far-out-of-the-ballpark/
  9. If he doesn’t go today, maybe he takes Smyly’s spot if he’s not ready. Swarmer will probably take Smyly’s spot.
  10. Scheduled Game (All Times Central): Iowa vs St. Paul, 12:08 pm- on Marquee Tennessee vs Birmingham, 6:15 pm South Bend at Dayton, 6:05 pm Myrtle Beach vs Delmarva, 6:05 pm Iowa: RHP Alec Mills (rehab) Tennessee: RHP Chris Clarke South Bend: LHP DJ Herz Myrtle Beach: RHP Tyler Schlaffer
  11. Mid-90s fastball with a good curve but I do believe he ticked up this spring. Sounds like the command is fantastic.
  12. Hopefully him and Jordan can become regulars at Iowa. Agreed. Would love to see them become big league utility guys.
  13. 2021 16th rounder Zac Leigh, who had a velocity spike last year after being drafted, is healthy and off to South Bend.
  14. Cole's been coming on a bit lately but wow. I wonder if this is a sign he's way outperforming the box scores and they think he's ready (e.g. Nelly getting the bump to AA last year) or if this is kind of a horsefeathers or get off the pot deal. Basically he's lost so much time he's gotta catch up or get left behind? To be honest, I think it’s the latter. He’s already Rule 5 eligible this coming offseason.
  15. With PCA to high-A, it sounds like Cole Roederer is headed to AA and Darius Hill to AAA.
  16. Scheduled Game (All Times Central): Iowa vs St. Paul, 6:38 pm Tennessee vs Birmingham, 6:15 pm South Bend at Dayton, 6:05 pm Myrtle Beach vs Delmarva, 6:05 pm Tennessee: RHP Javier Assad South Bend: LHP Jordan Wicks Myrtle Beach: RHP Tyler Schlaffer
  17. The best part was they tied it at 22 on a balk. And Beres was strictly a bullpen catcher before this season. Of course, the same two teams played 45 minutes later and UCLA blew the game by dropping an infield pop up in the 9th. :|
  18. He’s on the 40 man roster, I think. So he may be in the bigs by August. He’ll need to get his batting average over .200 at AA first.
  19. Owen Caissie has a 151 wRC+ for May. Closing in on 100 on the season (after having a -1 wRC+ in April)
