  1. Scheduled Games (All Times Central): ACL Cubs at ACL Giants Orange, 8:00 pm DSL Cubs Blue at DSL NYY Bombers, 10:00 am DSL Cubs Red vs DSL Braves, 10:00 am All full season teams have the day off
  2. He’s on the move to Iowa Confirmed? Yeah, Greg/NamedAfterMaddux confirmed it. Would love to see Nwogu to AA and a long overdue promotion to high-A for Pagán. ETA:
  3. 5 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 7 K, 1 HR for Ben Brown today. The Ks:
  4. Yes, Buehler might be a disingenuous comparison but I think he is a reminder than IP/S doesn’t necessarily lock you into a relief role. Palencia is racking up innings comparable to, if not greater, than most Latin American signings in their first two pro seasons but since he’s older, he’s already in high-A instead of in the complex leagues and under more scrutiny. He’s still got time to stretch out his pitches/start and innings/season, which he will have to if he wants to be a true starter in the bigs. A better comparison for him would likely be one of those older Latin IFA signees like Framber Valdez or Luis García with the Astros. As a side note, I think we on the outside as a whole tend to be too quick giving up on pitchers as starters, especially now as we have to contend with the lost pandemic season (the lost season didn’t affect Palencia but is something to consider with someone like Keegan Thompson).
  5. I like Palencia lots too but he's gone over 3 lower minors IP a whole 9 times over 32 appearances between 2021-2022. Starter in any traditional sense is prooooobably not happening Something interesting about Palencia is he’s averaging more innings per start this year than Walker Buehler did in his one full season in the minors (2017). I feel like it’s pointless to just give up on starting for pitchers who are still building up IP, show they can start so far and are slower movers (Palencia is over a year from the bigs still).
  6. Was hoping for Assad and Wesneski this week with the doubleheader and Keegan on the IL but we’re getting Luke Farrell instead.
  7. I feel like Mooney would know and have mentioned it if an MRI was scheduled, but I might be hopelessly optimistic here.
  8. Scheduled Games (All Times Central): Iowa at Indianapolis, 12:35 pm Tennessee at Birmingham, 4:00 pm South Bend vs Beloit, 1:05 pm Myrtle Beach at Down East, 12:00 pm All rookie league teams have the day off Probable Starters: Iowa: RHP Luke Farrell South Bend: RHP Daniel Palencia Myrtle Beach: RHP Tyler Santana
  9. The two relievers before Brendon Little were Dannis Correa and Manuel Rodríguez.
  10. Ugh. Wicks pulled, shaking his forearm.
  11. Looks like we have our first 2022 pitching debut: He followed up Kevin Valdez who went 3 perfect with 3 Ks.
  12. Scheduled Games (All Times Central): Iowa at Indianapolis, 6:05 pm Tennessee at Birmingham, 6:30 pm South Bend vs Beloit, 6:05 pm Myrtle Beach at Down East, 4:00 pm ACL Cubs vs ACL A’s, 12:00 pm DSL Cubs Blue vs DSL Giants Black, 10:00 am DSL Cubs Red at DSL Pittsburgh Black, 10:00 am Probable Starters: Iowa: RHP Matt Swarmer Tennessee: LHP Jordan Wicks South Bend: RHP Richard Gallardo Myrtle Beach: RHP Grant Kipp
  13. 90-93 FB (threw harder in instructs but seems to have dropped this season). Has a slider too but as Tom mentioned, the change is his best pitch. Great control.
  14. Holy horsefeathers Kohl Franklin Final line:
  15. 5 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K for Wesneski
