  1. Wow, I'm flattered and everything, but I've seen some pretty good sigs throughout my time here. I mean in like a couple of days when no one cares about m4d anymore(many people probably already don't) this sig will be old. But thanks I guess. -------------------- Back to the discussion -------------------- Anyone think Hendry just sees visions of Willis in his head- letting go of a valuable lefty. Probably not so, but if it was that would be crap since its two different situations. Just throwing that out...
  2. At this point, I'm not on the Jim Hendry BandWGN still, but I'm not ready to jump on the hate Hendry BandWGN. I'm just gonna keep hoping at this point. Mayube some praying too. Wait, I've been bamboozled. According to your avatar, Zito is now a Cub. Can we still make Hill comparisons? :D LOL. Don't listen to the troll in my avatar he says whatever he wants. I bet by tomorrow he will be proclaiming Dunn or Abreu a Cub. Now they're invading my sig note- none of these are specific references to anything.

  4. If he pitched in bizarro world, maybe. Only kidding, of course. Shawn Estes or Barry Zito, either way Hendry has an unhealthy obsession with keeping him. Agreed. Although he sucked in the majors this year do you think his stock is higher than ever because of his success in AA/AAA? If it is, then we should take advantage and sell high.

  6. These words all strung together made me just choke on my Cheetos. mmmm Cheetos. I thought the same exact thing, but didn't want to waste space on the thread. Now that you did it though its ok and I'll join in. mmmmmmm Cheetos Whats that? Hill is untouchable? :x Maybe that's why I'm gaining weight -- eating Cheetos while sitting on my butt at midnight... Anywho, is Hendry trying to make Hill sound more impressive to increase his trade value, or do you think he actually believes he's more than the next Shawn Estes? I think hes more than the next Shawn Estes. If everything went absolutely right he would be more like the next Barry Zito. He'll fall somewhere in between. Probably a good #3,4 pitcher.

  8. :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x :x Did I express my anger well enough? So he won't give up Hill, but it doesn't seem like he'd get a good shot to earn a spot on the rotation... so whats the point? If we aren't using him this year we might as well trade him.
  9. I don't know how many people will agree, but I for one am glad that trade is false. Why don't you want abreu? If the only limitation is no Z or Prior, I don't want Abreu. The Philles have a hole at 3B, no?[Ramirez] They don't need D Lee, but if they could get him they could then go get a 3B AND top of the line starter. I don't get it, you'd only take abreu if you could get rid of z or p in the process? that's just weird I'm not sure if I made my post clear. This thread is for trades that won't happen. And Abreu won't be had for less than at least Prior or Z, which I'm not willing to give up as aren't MOST cubs fans, so we could through everything else at em including pie and pawelek and they wouldn't trade him. They want a front line starter. Therefore: A trade that won't happen is the Cubs sending anyone to the Phils for Abreu (not counting Z or Prior - because they are the only two that might bring a deal to fruition). I get that they want a front line starter, and my point will be way off the point you are trying to make, but despite their desire for a frontline starter, other deals besides Z or Prior could net us Abreu (Lee and Ramirez). I wouldn't want that, but theoretically it could go down.

I would want to add to the list of players we weren't including to Lee and Ramirez.

  12. I don't know how many people will agree, but I for one am glad that trade is false. I think most would agree. Maybe the point was we should stop talking about getting Abeu becasue thats the cost?
  13. It's pretty obvious from whoever it was (Vance?) who posted that ramblings row of exclamation points right above his MS Paint illustration of Zito as a Cub. Actually its a direct quote. Wait is it the parenthetical statement from M4D's Zito rumor mongering last night? ding ding ding. from his first post.
  14. Am I crazy or does that trade not seem all that wildly off if we offered more prospects? He did say, anything thing from absolutely ridiculous to almost possible (or something to that effect). As long as it has no truth.

  16. Even more intersting than his home/away splits is his vs right/lefty spilts. Against lefties he'd be a great top of the order guy, whereas vs. righties he is a slightly below average slugger. It seems like if you wanted to maximize his talent you'd have to swich him in the order, but that kind of stuff can always mess with a player.
  17. Neify wants to be a Cub. Hawkins also wanted to be a Cub. Turns out he didn't wanna be a Cubs closer though... Maybe we could say that players with actual talent who want to play for the Cubs, but only in the position they want... do well. Todd Hundley had enough talent to hit 40 homers in a season, wanted to play for the Cubs, played catcher and was probably the worst regular position player in the history of the franchise. So you're saying theres no proof to such a strategy! (That was kinda my point by making so many 'rules' to it)
  18. You'll find these results surprising Kearns Home/Away Home: .233 .307 .444 .752 Away: .246 .354 .459 .813 note- the three years splits are not as drastic, but he is still slighty better.
  19. A's are getting prepared for a playoff push while the Cubs are preparing for 5th place in the division. Is there another Upton available to draft in 2007? Tank for Upton!
  20. My Challende to all of you: find the obvious(or maybe not so obvious) reference in my above post^^
  21. NO WAY WOULD HENDRY TRADE NIEFI!!!!! Now call me crazy, but this morning I was eating my alphabet cereal, and the following message was in my bowl. dleearampriorzam4.... the four was an actually an upside down "H" that was broke and looked like "h".... thats all there was, but my good friend in Ethiopia said his alphabet cereal said done. Done sounds like Dunn, so I'm still waiting on my friend in Tawain to confirm with his alphabet cereal, but it looks like a DUNN deal! We are getting Dunn. OMFG!!!!111!11!>?#!!1 DUNN IS DONE!!!! HAHAHA OML IM HILARIOUS!!!! Hes Saving the ballclub BABYYYYY!!!!121>2!#@!#4!!!!!! YEA! (none of you believe me but..)

  23. For some reason I remember two. I could just be crazy though(Real Good Chance)
  24. Well then those prospects must be worth something. I'm glad Walker wasn't wasted to get Bradley, he is worth more, I think. Bradley would have been nice, but with attitude issues far from perfect. Wilkerson for CF please, hes better for the top of the order anyway and without Furcal its more important to get that from CF now. EDIT- after looking at the stats, I don't know what I was talking about, Bradley would be just as good for the top of the order.
  25. I am definately in the minority, but I think Sing has the potential to be a solid major leaguer, even as a starter. He gets on base and has lots of power. Now hes pretty old, 25-26 by now? So he doesn't have the oppurtunity to falter another year, but if he keeps hitting he could be ready as a major league backup later this year. I could him becoming a .850+ OPS player if it all pans out and at least a 800+ OPS. Would have liked to see him on the 40man. Hopefully he can't stick anywhere.
