  1. Ummm...hello! yea you're like ancient...
  2. 18. Drinking is fun. me too, on both counts
  3. Watch him not pass the physical ha
  4. I'm telling you guys, trick him into thinking he's the leadoff hitter: Soriano Lee Ramirez Barrett Jones Pitcher Izturis Murton DeRosa BRILLIANT! :D
  5. Yeah, posting after midnight on weekends should definitely be banned. I still have 6 minutes then!
  6. who would you rather do, j.d. drew or alfonso soriano Alphonso Drew will injure himself before I'm finished. Although... 10 minutes with Drew and the rest with myself might be better tha n 15 minutes with Soriano... how much am I paying?
  7. At least you made your opinion without using stats I dunno though. I just posted his pic on hotornot.com and hes already raking in a 8.8 I know stats don't mean much, but if hot or not says so...
  8. Just posting to show my support of Lee (see sig)
  9. uh somewhere in this thread theres a point i made where 122 games of JD Drew is a heck of a lot better than 162 games of Soriano in CF. Unfortunately, you failed to provide any facts to support your argument. Last year 162 games of Soriano was >>> than J.D. Drew. I think we need to stop assuming that age automatically equals decline in production. Soriano is only 30 years old. It is possible that he can continue his better numbers over the next few years. Hahahaha...that's a completely ridiculous claim if you've read the whole thread. KC has provided a ton of facts to back up his case. There's still room to disagree with his case and provide facts to counter it, but he has provided a lot of factual information to back his opinion. To claim otherwise is to disrespect the work he has done here and lower your own credibility. Sorry, I'm trying to keep up with the whole thread. Look no further than last year when they both played the whole season and I would take Soriano's numbers over Drew's any day of the week. Looking no further than one year is gonna screw you over mor often than not.
  10. Drew 2003 - Cardinals 2004 - Braves 2005 - Dodgers 2006 - Dodgers 2007 - ? Soriano 2003 - Yankees 2004 - Rangers 2005 - Rangers 2006 - Nationals 2007 - Cubs Seems like they're both about to be on their 4th team in 5 years. Best. Post. Ever. AlphonsOWNED
  11. You'll have to forgive me for not thinking. Between the two papers I'm simultaneously writing while trying to keep up with this the Soriano stuff, my head is fried. On a side note, I might be the only person here who's read every single post in this thread. I too have read every post.
  12. I'm having fun. :thumleft: (don't these things make non-premium people curious what the heck this is for or what it looks like?) They most certainly do... but not like $50 curious. (Sorry Tim, broke college student here) Also broke college student, but one who will have a job next semester and might be willing to pay up... maybe not... EDIT- heh, now that I think about it, I will be making $6.50 an hour so I can sit at a computer for an hour pretending to work while I read NSBB and pay for premium.
  13. Negative = Me, KC, Jon, TT, Navin, CubsinNY, Rob (might have missed a few) Positive= Everyone else Oversimplifying. There are people in the middle, as well. Besides that I really doubt someone trying to catch up cares whos on what side and moreso what each view is, not to mention details.
  14. Maybe buy low? We have enough money thrown at injury concerns with our pitching and our bullpen is pretty deep.
  15. POST OF THE YEAR! Nice work, I completely agree with everything you typed! I have to disagree. Any post that brings in Lee and doesn't get rid of Izturis is terrible IMO.
  16. Because he chose to opt out of his contract? Thats the reason I see.
  17. Well it depends on if they are team or player options. If thery are team options, Soriano surely would have demanded they be smaller so if they are not excercised he still gets most of his deal.
  18. You should meet my friend, Mr. Facts. Hmmm, Mr. Facts shows that out of 8 seasons for Drew, 4 of them were seriously hampered due to injury and 2 others were less than 140 games. That's what is known in the real universe as a player with injury problems. It also shows he was healthy the last three years except for being hit on the hand by a pitch, which you surely can't fault him for. He doesn't drink enough milk. His bones are weak.
  19. OPS isn't a "random" stat. And it only takes about 15 seconds to look it up at any number of sites. By not using OPS you openly admit to not using the stat that best determines offensive production in a cursory manner. So, how do you judge a good player? I base it on watching players. Ive seen both and Soriano has been more productive. Drew hasnt played enough in his career to prove that he is better than Soriano. Your eyes are lying to you.
  20. I have to disagree. Izturis sucks DeRosa is largely a question mark Soriano Murton Lee Ramirez Barrett DeRosa Izturis Pie no thanks.
  21. I don't think salaries will escalate all that much. Did all those big contracts that were given out in the early millenium change baseball's salaries? No, people regretted them and they dropped (before just rising now)
  22. We'll probably know by tommorow at the press conference, but from what Kaplan and other beat writers/analysts its looking like 5 years/85M with 3 option years at 17M each, or it could be 6 years/98M with 2 options years for 19M each. Those options don't make sense to me. If they are team options, I highly doubt that the Cubs would pick them up given his age. Why would Soriano allow that? If they are player options, unless Soriano becomes an all time great (he wont) why wouldn't he pick them up? I would guess that the first option year would be in the Cubs hands, but at a very steep buyout price. The other two years would be either mutual or player option. Just for example, say it works like this: 2007- 19 2008- 19 2009- 18 2010- 17 2011- 17 2012- 17 (or team option with $10M buyout) 2013- 15 (or player option with $5M buyout) 2014- 14 (or mutual option with $5M buyout) Now, while it might be easy to take the $10M buyou remember buyouts go towards the previous season, so we will have paid him $27M for 2011. Is it worth the $36M you save the next few years? If you don't buy him out, the ball is in his court and he could make an easy $15M, so you don't get to opt out until the next season. I'm sure the option years will be something along these lines.
