Yea not sure they can count in 4-6 from Wade and Jimmy every night, lol, but second chances and FT trips should be their MO, and hopefully Mirotic and McDermott do more. Eta- along with Rondo, the worst 3pt shooting backcourt in the NBA went 9-14 from deep. Our three outside specialists went 1-10. And MCW, career 25% from 3 went 1-1 as well.

this is so ridiculous Fox is a coach, he's built nothing. Hendry had as much power and money as a gm could hope to have. He did what he wanted and failed. It's only like the 43rd most ridiculous thing he's said this week. Btw my irrational love for Cutler makes me want him just dominate the next few weeks even if it causes the Bears to have a worse draft pick My love is rational, and the best thing that could happen is he leaves us with a tanking gift, sealing his fate and Fox's and hopefully throwing us a bone on the way out with our QB of the future (Try not to suck, Kizer!) -
Well beyond the obvious fact that he plays 2 positions when healthy-including one of the most demanding, thats really rich coming from an AL team.

So Fox was telling people he was done with Cutler, which I guess is not surprising, but really makes me nervous about next year. It's kind of too early to tell if one of the top QBs interests Pace, or worse, whether the Bears can remain bad enough to be in a spot to get that guy. The idea we could let go of Jay without a "future" in place and just roll with Hoyer or whatever FA we can get is terrifying as far as keeping next year at all interesting. -
Don't those stats say Tomlin has a higher % of groundball outs than Kyle? Unless I ran it incorrectly. Isn't this just a function of a higher percentage of his total outs occuring in the field, overall?

Both my grandfathers were Cubs fans, but my mom's dad was really the biggest reason I'm personally a Cubs fan, lots of summer days spent watching WGN and going to pick up baseball cards with him. He passed away a couple years ago now (crazy how it still feels like it wasn't that long ago). But I've definitely thought about him a lot during this post season run. My dad is still with us, and somehow has become a Cubs fan again for the first time since 69 when he gave up on them in 8th grade lol. I wasn't much older for the heaetbreak of 03 and managed to stay committed, so he's much more fairweather than me, but its been fun to have him around watching baseball with me for the first time I can ever remember, especially since my grandpa isn't around to enjoy the games with. -
Eh- its not just being hobbled, but just practiced. Obviously being medically cleared is the big step, but i can buy the argument that hitting is more stressful already, particularly the back leg.

I dont think that really upgrades any of your defensive spots over just keepong Zobrist in RF. These guys have been in their spots for a while now.

Let's say the goal is to get Schwarbs 3 ABs. Isnt the best strategy to PH for the LF starter (say Almora) right before his second AB? That minimizes Schwarbers time in the field as he will be guaranteed to miss the top half of whatever inning he enters the game, alomg with not wasting time in the field when his spot in the lineup isn't even due up? Then you have Heyward late for a double switch opportunity and defensive sub. I know that burns through three guys for one fielding position, but if you can be creative with your pitching subs, it gets Schwarbs in the lineup while minimizing his fielding.

So ; Schwarber/Almora/Baez V Schwarber/Almora/Zobrist V Schwarber/Zobrist/Baez V Almora/Zobrist/Baez With Heyward as a sub for Almora in any scenario (or Soler/Coghlan in the last scenario). I'm not doing option one and also still inclined to keep Javy in. So, no, I don't see a lineup with Schwarber and Almora. It may also be an unpopular opinion, but I think I still prefer Heyward to Almora.

does any of this matter in 40 mph wins? i mean, its not 10, or 20. its 40. I hope so, but but holy horsefeathers Ground balls aren't affected by the wind. You have one of the better ground ball pitchers in the league going who also happens to be the best at inducing weak contact. He might give up a gopher ball or even 2 but I would guess that for the most part Hendricks is the ideal pitcher to have pitching in these conditions. Is my theory on Hendricks correct? He's 21st overall in GB rate, 23rd in GB/FB (amongst qualified pitchers). Obviously good. Where he really shines is HR/FB rate, which is top 3. The link Duke posted is encouraging, his FBs just aren't going as far it seems. If that's a sustainable thing, you're in good hands regardless of wind, I'd think.

not gonna lie, i'm a little worried about that too. I won't pretend to be a pitching expert, but he should still be able to induce the same number of ground balls. Yeah, lifted balls might be trouble, but those will be trouble for Tomlin too. Hendricks probably won't pitch a shutout in those conditions, but should still be able to be better than the other guy. Well a lot of Hendricks success was keeping fly balls in, not just limiting them. Still better than Tomlin on both metrics, but once their pen is in you have some better ground ball pitchers they could use to theoretically limit fly balls. I really have no idea how sustainable his HR/FB rate is or how elastic it is to wind speed.

You still have to be able to move laterally though. I'd love for him to be able to play, but I don't think it's gonna happen. Shhh. I'm trying to get him in the line up and here you are all negative Nancy. He's not allowed to move laterally, he just turns 90 degrees and then runs straight. Problem solved.

If you want WS gear, anything is going to be overpriced, not sure Wrigleyville will gougue you anymore than elsewhere... are you relying on public transit? Yes, taking the blue line from O'Hare to downtown and meet some friends (that's the best public transportation, correct?). So I will be downtown tomorrow and Wrigleyville on Friday. Thanks! Yea, I would think Wrigleyville sports by the stadium is your best bet. For reference, the prices they have online right now are the same that I paid at a Dick's Sportimg Goods in the burbs. Theres a few places you can get stuff downtown if you don't want to wait until Friday. Theres a few sports attire stores in the loop on State Street between Lake amd Adams. A Lids, and something else I cant recall. There is a Dicks just outside of the loop near Roosevelt and Canal (just a little south of Union Station). Also at Union Station or Ogilvie train station, there are some temporary tents setup selling stuff, usually during AM and PM commute. And yes Blue line is best and easiest commute to downtown from Ohare.
