  1. That said I'm definitely using this on my sister and BIL
  2. Not cool jersey. Not cool.
  3. Here's a small reason for optimism for tankers. The Bulls are 28th in the league based on expected W/L. Unlike the tank standings there is actually a decent variance between, say 22 (Dal) and 28. Perhaps the Bulls have another tank gear left, and they've done more than the rest of the bottom 10 to deteriorate, even if Rolo and Holiday stuck around... they are very likely to see reduced minutes at least.
  4. The underappreciated human element of GMing FTW. Also, let's remember McDaniels had to create an excel spreadsheet to try and learn not to be a dick. Needs to go add some additional tabs
  5. I think over the remainder of the season, attributing even one win to those guys is a pretty optimistic assement of their value. Random statistical noise is gonna play a bigger part in W-L. They will probably be better assets a year from now, particularly if the market ends up being less of a buyers market. It came up a little bit with Niko, as well, but I'll maintain maximizing your asset returns is way more important than a few draft slots. Obviously there's some inherent risk of never realizing any return on your asset if they just see out their contract, but that's part of what needs to be weighed, especially if your shutting the door on some other avenue, in this case FA.
  6. When you sell second roundersfor cash what's the difference?
  7. Noah Vonleh and cash to Bulls. Draft rights of some obscure Serbian guy to Portland. Portland gets under the tax. Bulls get cash, and I guess an extended look at a 22 year old 10per RFA to be.
  8. Bulls trade Jameer Nelson for Willie Reed, and a swap of 2022 2nd round picks. Luckily they are waiving Reed (wouldn't want that scum on the roster)
  9. Eh I doubt there's some secret info about Lucks health that made McDaniels change his mind. If anything in means something about Bellichicks future. Meaning you think he's setting himself up to take over in New England? Would you want to be the first coach up after ~20 years of Brady/Belichick dominance (assuming Brady goes when Belichick goes)? Well the recent rumors from a few weeks ago was a Kraft/Bellichick power struggle. Since Brady just threw for like a bajillion yards, it doesn't seem like his retirement is anytime soon. McDaniels might feel like taking a bet on the NE job opening in 2019 with another year or two of Brady.
  10. I wonder if that's an indicator of Luck's health (or lack of)? Eh I doubt there's some secret info about Lucks health that made McDaniels change his mind. If anything in means something about Bellichicks future.
  11. Mcdaniels backs out of Colts job. Staying in NE. Yikes.
  12. Well the Bears ended up having a pretty big impact on SB 52. Philly took the Foles TD catch from the Bears week 17 game last year.
  13. Yea, caught twice in two seasons. Next failed test is a two year suspension.
  14. He would make more than that. 3.5 is just the savings of they cut him. With the injuries and PEDs, I find him the easiest cut of that group. Also, fyi on Sitton, they have to make the option within the first few days of the league year. Its an option and becomes guaranteed once taken. So they won't be able to play the FA market the same way as some of the other guys who have large unguaranteed portions.
  15. A lot depends on Lavine, but they should be able to still get a max player in 2018 or 19 I think.
  16. Favorite pronoun: You Favorite President Yulsseys S Grant
  17. Niko sitting through trade deadline. Down 2-20 against Portland right now lol. *granted they're without their 3 best plays as Lauriis also not with the team.
  18. Unless they literally want to try him out/salvage the playoff run with Cousins out and still have the ability to decide on next year? I'd almost prefer the pick be heavily protected, as long as it eventually pays out without restrictions (and doesn't just turn into a second rounder or something). Protect it out for like 5 years and then wait for them to lose Davis, suck, and pick up a top 5 pick exactly the time well need good, affordable players to plug holes.
  19. There is definitely a romantic mysticism associated with American Indian culture, for better or for worse. I mean, even in the entire context it's a little weird that we have mascots at all right, it's just a lot are furry creatures instead of racially simplistic/offensive charictures. But outside of sports, yea there is a mysticism with Native Americans which is why the military has Black Hawk and Apache helicopters, tomahawk missiles, etc.
  20. you would front load as an incentive to a player to take a lower over AAV to protect you from the tax hit. He gets more money sooner, which has more value, while you avoid tax hit.Yeah, that’s what I was getting at. If they are fine going to 6/150+ outside of the LT ramifications just go to 8/160. He gets his 25-30 a year for the first few years, but for that we get to tack 1-3 years on to lower the AAV for LT purposes. Hell, even give him an opt out after 3-4 years. Also paying more now in real cash helps a bit in future cash outlays with arbitration raises/Bryce (though obviously I get the time value aspect of that by paying more now than later but it’s a trade off). That seems like a structure bound to test the limits of MLB and the lux tax rules.
  21. you backload them too. if you can backload, all else equal, you should. All else equal is kind of the big deal. If you could actually get players to adjust their total contract by frontloading, why would you ever backload? Even if you are using somewhat conservative time value returns, a bunch of half million, million AAV increments could end up adding up when it comes to trying to time your tax overages/under. Eta, actually there could be a lot of reasons to backload still, but not from a lux tax calc perspective.
  22. Highly doubt that and if it is go to 8/160 to lessen the LT hit and front load it. Who cares if we’re paying him $10 mil a year 5+ years from now unless there's some mlb rule/tax implication i'm overlooking (which i don't think bc it's all based on AAV anyway), there's no good reason to frontload when you can backload. money now >>>>>> money later Hmmm... if I can get a player to agree to a lower AAV contract that's frontloaded because he understands time value of money, isn't that potentially a very big deal in determining the tax base?
  23. That dudes face... he knows it ain't even his time... just a straight up dafuq face.
  24. Wait. I thought I was pretty up to speed on weird and outrageous Illinois high school mascots. What school is this?!
