It would be incredibly awesome if Lou really was planning on using Marmol in the tightest spots, regardless of whether it's a save spot or not. He's more forward thinking in some ways than you would think.
Pujlols I love how they look back up at the sun when they lose it. It's like they want to signal their excuse to everyone. Not like there's anything to investigate.
Or I can make evaluations based on the players on the team, their histories, and stuff like that. Whether or not they wind up performing the best is a completely different subject. There is a team right now that is intrinsically the best in the NL and one that's the worst and a whole bunch in between. It means something and I'm pretty sure we're allowed to attempt to figure it out.
The pitching and lack of clutch hitting scares me. There isn't any such thing as clutch hitting. You either have hitting, or you don't. I disagree. Some guys can handle the situation and others can't. Look at Soriano's numbers with men on compared to nobody on. I'm not saying it proves my argument, but I think it shows evidence toward my argument. The relief pitching should probably scare you, but it is what it is and it's what we knew it was coming in. At least we have Marmol. Not a whole lot about this offense should scare you, aside from maybe Derrek Lee having further regressed. We get runners on. We will score lots of runs.
How do you figure? You're right. Silly me, I should've realized that 10 games in I should completely reevaluate the quality (lack thereof, actually) of this team. The Cardinals, Marlins, Blue Jays, Orioles, etc. all > them. Better?
Except the Cubs are a much better team than the Bears. I disagree. We're gonna with the North, and with our DEF finally getting some rest with our offense getting better....it's gonna be a fun season. Past 3 years has been all defense and special teams. Add a good QB to the mix. And yet none of that makes them the best team in their conference(/league) or one of the top 3 or 4 in the NFL. The Cubs are. I'm not saying I'm not excited about the Bears. I'm just saying you're undercutting the Cubs because you're mad right now.
He doesn't always like to do things that make sense. If you don't trust Cotts here, you really can't ever bring him in (which is becoming increasingly an option). Duncan has over a 300 point split between left-handers and right-handers. You have to try to make use of that split. Bingo.
I'm pretty sure 1/3 of the game is still left. The last inning or so has been frustrating as hell, though. i feel like our offense will go in shutdown mode now, and make the cardinals' pathetic bullpen look like the best in the league. Our offense only goes into shutdown mode when we try to steal bases and hit and run. As long as we don't do that, we should be ok.
