  1. well, i'm glad that's that. guess i'll tune in next year. so you think it's a solid idea to call up a 20 year old who has spent one year outside of rookie ball? that's exactly what i said.
  2. well, i'm glad that's that. guess i'll tune in next year.
  3. since when do people think that good defense doesn't matter?
  4. how did ramirez get thrown into that equation? didn't you see the boneheaded out he made on monday getting doubled off at first
  5. What crap does Ramirez pull other than be awesome at baseball?
  6. as a 19-year old in AA, he walked 28 times in 162 at bats and only Kd 19 times. His OPS was 1057 there's no chance he isnt a blanking stud yup... people are acting like we're being victor diaz or jeff blausered here.
  7. He's a stud. And saying that has nothing at all to do with the past two games.
  8. That was a terrible call but in the grand scheme of things wouldn't have mattered anyway. Because the rest of the game would've gone exactly as it went if that inning had gone differently.
  9. hahaha but no... it's not even my pic
  10. Those last few posts might be the most pointless argument ever to happen on NSBB, and that's saying a hell of a lot.
  11. Not true. It could just be that he expected to hate it and doesn't. People say, "I don't hate it," about things that they are surprised to like all the time.
  12. Or he might've meant "the pictures are iffy" in the sense that the pictures we have of the area aren't the best, but that as far as he can tell, he likes it.
  13. I like it but would prefer it be spread out more... but who knows, maybe they're going beyond just that area... still a few days before opening day.

  15. Couldn't agree more... want to see more pics of this.
  16. It's not just one game, though. I guess you can argue that it's just one game since surgery, if you wanna be all glass half full-y about it.
  17. Holy jump to conclusions, Batman. Look, Soriano has his obvious flaws and is overpaid, but it's ridiculous to act like he's already a non-factor this season when he's played one game against a pitcher who would eat him alive even if Soriano was even in the middle of one of his hot streaks. How long does he have to crap the bed before this becomes a reality? I may be jumping to conclusions as well but, he was terrible in spring, pathetic today. I don't think it's far-fetched to conclude he's nearly done and a liablity. Is this serious? THEY'VE PLAYED ONE GAME. Lee, Aramis and Soto sucked in spring training, too, so you better get their replacements lined up as well. He's coming back from a season that he played most of while hurt and he's played one game against a pitcher he likely has little chance against even at his best. To be a liability he'd have to go on a stretch of crappy games at least longer than his usual cold streaks. Deciding that they need to think about benching him after the first game of the season is absurd. Last year counts, too. I'm typically pretty optimistic but I really haven't been regarding Soriano. I know he was playing with a bad knee last year, but the possibility also exists (and it's a pretty strong one at that, IMO) that he just sucks now and that his physical abilities aren't going to be good enough to get him past his shortcomings anymore. I just hope they don't keep trotting him out there all season if he sucks for long enough. Unfortunately, his history is such that he could go a whole month or more sucking terribly and then get ridiculously hot. I'm not really sure what to do with him.
  18. Can someone explain to me why this is a good idea? It's meant in case of a rainout/snowout of Opening Day games... I guess I can see the point if it's because of all the festivities and such.
  19. Following today's closely fought battle in Atlanta, the Cubs have dropped into last place in the NL Central. With so much of the season already played, it will be difficult for the Cubs to make a run at the division title. The last teams to reach the playoffs after starting the season this poorly were the Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, Colorado Rockies, Minnesota Twins and New York Yankees in 2009. You have to go back to 2009 to find the last 2 World Series teams who started so poorly and the last WS winner was back when the Yankees were opening up their new Yankee Stadium in 2009. As you can see, the Cubs now have their work cut out for them. So as not to pull a Skyballer - http://anothercubsblog.net/games/post-game/cubs-fall-into-last-place.html
