i love schwarber but there are a lot more guys i'd trade him for beyond that list A lot? There are definitely guys beyond those 3, but the list isn't super long, but with no emotional attachment I might have a different story. His ceiling to me is still a 40 HR .900 OPS guy with average defense which should be like 6-7 WAR. My guess is his floor is probably more of a 25 HR .775 OPS 2 win guy. I could be wrong though off the top of my head Trout Machado Harper Bogaerts Syndergaard Fernandez Sale Seager Betts Correa Mazara maybe JBJ I'm kind of tired of listing guys but I'm sure there are more

Don't really have a problem with him hitting ahead of those two guys. It's not completely ridiculous or anything but Baez at least is clearly a better hitter. Montero was until he injured his back. AKA I am not particularly high on Almora the hitter (although using nothing but B-R to form my opinion) and hope to be proven wrong. I'm not certain about that at all. Montero is the one I was iffy on.

You've seen this young man Schwarber hit a baseball? I have been savoring every last moment of this glorious season so far but I still feel a pang when I imagine the lineup card with that monster in it. Unless it's Machado/Harper/Trout, I don't want him going anywhere. i love schwarber but there are a lot more guys i'd trade him for beyond that list

Right. There's a time and a place to pull guys out of no hitters...being sub 120 pitches in the 9th inning is not one of them. This is exactly what the protocol is for.

That post epitomizes why this website barely gets any new members. I wasn't trying to troll at all. I sincerely am against working a pitcher hard in order to get a no hitter. We saw back in 2003 how working Prior and Wood hard lead to. But you decided to get nasty with your reply. Way to not start a conversation on a legitimate issue. A - You are nothing resembling new. If you have such a problem with this site, why do you continue to post here? As they'd say on radio, push the horsefeathering button. B - People who have bad opinions and are defiant enough about it to get mad and/or leave when their arguments are challenged are the type of people who wouldn't be wanted here anyway. That was the whole reason this board was started...to weed out the Cubs.com level riff raff. That's why this is the least terrible faction of Cubs fans on the internet.

Well he was running on the pitch so there was at least some small chance plus the hit had a lot of hang time yup force the throw and hope it goes errant or the catcher mishandles it or something. better than counting on those guys to drive him in with 2 outs.

no way in hell would he have scored you just gamble on him or the catcher making a bad play rather than count on david ross to get a hit

i'm not sure the odds of a bad throw were much worse than 23% or whatever (yeah that ignores the walk possibility yadda yadda)
