  1. Most of the posters there, of what I've seen, seem alright, even when the thread is about the Cubs. Surely there are worse, more WSI-like Cardinals boards out there. cards talk
  2. hypothetically speaking, if the NL got the DH next year, would you guys do something like (primarily) platoon soler and schwarber there and then play almora in CF with maybe gomez in LF? it's a tough question to ask given fowler's likely exit and not knowing what we do there... or do we just maximize dongage and start both schwarber and soler most of the time
  3. Ahh it was Romine. I thought he was a defensively minded catcher? http://www.statcorner.com/CatcherReport.php hasn't been particularly good at framing
  4. ok which one fo you guys did it http://gatewayredbirds.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1705581#p1705581
  5. I mean, the only thing *they* really did was pull him out semi-ceremoniously. The rest was the crowd and then the fact that he, ridiculously perfectly, managed to hit a massive dong while this was all going on, only amplifying it all.
  6. He already passed on San Diego. sure, but that doesn't mean he would never go back. there are a lot of reasons it may not have been the right move at that time. then again, win a WS with the Cubs and he may jump on the first job that pops up I mean, yeah...it just seems like, if it were a Theo or SD type of mindset for him, I can't see him withdrawing his name when the opportunity came up. I think it's more likely he just didn't think it was a good situation and doesn't want to go back there (especially given that he was already there and knows what ownership is like).
  7. It is. He has stated it and Jed has for him.
  8. He already passed on San Diego.
  9. He kinda is pretty ridonkulous as a hitter...just not as insanely ridinkulous as he is as a pitcher. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/how-good-is-shohei-otani/
  10. not that he is or isn't funny/not serious but what about this makes you say that? it's not like it was some kind of practical joke. he was trying to honor and make a moment for a good friend and teammate.
  11. [tweet] [/tweet] Hope this means we are in the clear and not that McLeod goes to work under him as GM

  13. 6-1 damnit. Would like that too but I bet we see throwaway lineups in at least 3 of the 7 games now that we aren't playing teams with things to play for i get injury concerns but seems otherwise rather pointless considering all of the time off the following week
  14. [tweet] [/tweet] i gather this was the only thing worth seeing tonight?
  15. [tweet]https://twitter.com/CarrieMuskat/status/780249137367224320[/tweet]
  16. btw remember the alou "foul" in the september 2003 doubleheader that seemed like it landed in that exact spot as russell's tonight? thank god for replay
  17. 57 wins at home. very complicated math but i believe that's a 114 win pace in an 81 game sample.
  18. look how far off the plate he is lol
  19. they are not worse than the current mets but the truth is none of this matters I've started to get re-concerned for the Mets because their offense is really heating up a la last year. The actual talent is rather meh but you've always got to be concerned with the hot team in October. On reality though like you said none of this matters. The Cubs are going to get who they are going to get, and they will be much better than that team. you need to stop thinking hot streaks are a thing and that'll help a lot with this (and the weird stuff you like to post)
  20. do not walk this fat [expletive] chapman
  21. There were unconfirmed rumors that the bullpen move would be delayed one more season, but I believe the Cubs denied those rumors. So at this point, I don't think we know. One more season after it was already delayed to 2017?
  22. yeah, they were saying that if the cubs were honest they probably would say they wouldn't want to play the cards. i'd be happy to play them. their rotation isn't very strong and their defense is abysmal. I want to face them so bad. If we lose, I don't give a damn who it is to, its gonna suck really bad either way. The Cards are clearly the worst team of the 3 possibilities and they are far worse than us. The only pitcher they have that scares me is a mental midget that they'll have to burn in the WC game. Its as close to a bye week as you can get in the MLB playoffs. Cards, Mets, Giants would be my order of preference. Giants are the only team that would scare me. they are not worse than the current mets but the truth is none of this matters
