  1. yeah, still don't think that helps our chances more than assuring syndergaard doesn't face us twice.
  2. Doesn't help them at all. Plus the 3 way tie is more fun to watch. i'd much rather root against having to potentially face the best pitcher in the NL twice in 5 games. i'll root for madness in the AL for the fun. plus the mets with thor only once is my ideal opponent so i'd like to lock that in
  3. i really don't think playing an extra game hurts them all that much. for entertainment value, i'll root for the craziness in the AL.
  4. defensive metrics can vary a lot from year to year. overall he's been pretty close to average (for a CF), which is obviously insanely valuable if you can hit the way he does. one year that graded out as elite and one that graded out poorly.
  5. i'd imagine a lot of that boost by playing RF is mitigated by the decreased positional value.
  6. at this point i'm rooting so hard for the mets to clinch and clinch early. and i'm almost positive that as long as they have the spot locked up, even if they still have home field up in the air, they'd sit thor on Sunday for the play in game. fg has them at 89.5% to take one. magic number is 4.
  7. i mean the truth is it doesn't matter that much. if they had the talent, they'd win with him. but i still enjoy it because the fans want him gone so bad.

  9. Why does it seem like there's so little Syndergaard talk anyway?
  10. Another clip [tweet]https://twitter.com/AthleticsMotive/status/781175996930138114[/tweet]
  11. today on mully and hanley, while making fun of him for his comments yesterday, mully said he should get cheered here when he comes to town. like none of this nasty rapey stuff was happening.

  13. yeah, jonah keri RT'd it saying it was a fun read so i actually clicked on a rogers link. i just finished and am not sure why i bothered.
  14. i still take off work...just the following day :-"
  15. the local broadcasting revenue is what will make or break the Cubs from a financial standpoint. they want to show their current partners and potential future partners how high their ratings can be. i mean, how much is one game going to make an impact in those negotiations for whatever they do in the future? as for right now, they make out the same either way with their current deal (maybe a little more ad revenue depending on how the WGN or ABC deals wound up being structured - I don't recall the details but I remember things being open ended based on how they actually did). then again, you can say the same for how real of an impact the ticket sale difference would make anyway. i just want my horsefeathering opening day day drinking back.
  16. Is it basically just an ESPN asks so we have to give in sort of thing? Our home opener wasn't on ESPN this year, this is a CSN/WGN/whatever decision makes sense i guess...I just didn't realize the local broadcast peons had any say in game scheduling.
  17. T E L E V I S I O N Is it basically just an ESPN asks so we have to give in sort of thing?
  18. I don't really get it. Unless they have to allot their night games a certain way by month or whatever, opening day is a sure sell out at their highest price tier. Why not use that to knock out a usually poor selling weekday April game (not that the night games that early fill up spectacularly but I think they do better than a midweek day game).
  19. Why not? With no clear cut favorite, and a perfectly respectable resume on his own, what harm is there if a few votes that were considering going another way swing into his favor? especially if they were going to go against him for something stupid like where his team is in the standings
  20. I think he's very much deserving. Just hate the fact that it might get perceived as because of what happened.
  21. one of my favorite things was when he'd roll the ball to 1B for an out
  22. Yeah I should say that I think what Tavarez did was more reckless, not to mention illegal. RIP Tavarez http://thegoldensombrero.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/2008021620080216952891.jpg
  23. how much would it suck if the mariners made it
  24. why are you so anti fun lately how is a seinfeld reference not fun? as far as nitpicking things baseball journalists say, even if it's just little things because i'm bored and just want to say things, that won't be stopping anytime soon ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
