  1. i could've sworn sulley was relatively high on leno which confuses me as to why he'd want to move long off the position he has been much better at (than RT - not even to speak of flipping him around and making him learn everything in the other direction too) i mean yeah, he could possibly get better than he did last time, i guess, but he's not exactly a spring chicken anymore
  2. Theo trade...his second I believe. Marshall for Sappelt, Torreyes, and Wood. The first, I THINK, was the Ian Stewart trade...and a week or two before that he signed DeJesus.
  3. who fucked up sometime after 2:30 yesterday?
  4. the goofy tnt streak lives
  5. wtf is this good vibes only
  6. russell just checked in at sloan park on instagram, so i think that's pretty much everyone except zobrist as far as position players of any consequence. rizz kb russell schwarb heyward almora jay javy (scissors has also been there...can't recall who else)
  7. It makes me at least mildly skeptical that KB didn't figure it out and was playing along a bit. But who cares, it's still funny. Yeah, I dunno. Part of me thinks that and then part of me thinks that KB is just such a nice dude that he's not going to be an ass and is the type that goes along to get along. Yeah, I don't know if he was on to anything or not, but I wouldn't expect KB to respond any differently either way. He kind of gave an annoyed "that's the goal" or something as a response iirc.
  8. They were mainly because he has been vocal about never having had alcohol (thought I'm not sure if he followed through on his claim that he'd drink World Series champagne) and then he has missed/been pulled from games on more than one occasion with "flu like symptoms." I know it's been talked about that he's Mormon but I'm not sure it's ever been confirmed in any sort of way (like him saying so, or it even being in print as a fact).
  9. It's at least been a rumor for a while. Did I miss something in that video that had to do with that though?
  10. http://m.mlb.com/video/search?query=cubs MLB network was at camp yesterday and there's a bunch of intereviews and stuff posted
  11. Theo was on with Spiegel and Parkins, said Heyward has been looking promising vs. live pitching and his bat path is looking more like 2012, if not a little better.
  12. To the earlier discussion on this... Zobrist goes into the season as the primary 2B I'm pretty sure it's going to be like last year with a little more RHP exposure for Baez. http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/2b-or-not-2b-baez-fine-with-continued-job-share-in-cubs-infield/
  13. "you still want my bat?" "nope"
  14. I'm actually going to stray from the usual Derwood bashing and say that I like this.
  15. https://theathletic.com/38588/2017/02/15/batman-returns-cubs-jason-heyward-on-a-crusade-to-fix-his-swing/ does anyone here actually have a sub to the athletic who might be able to give us a synopsis?
  16. http://www.cubsinsider.com/2017/02/14/fixing-eddie-butler-cant-simple-can/ This could be fun [tweet] [/tweet]
  17. i don't see it. they're going to want to be cautious with him. and on top of that, they have contreras and miggy...and miggy really started to come on at the plate once he made some adjustments late in the year. i could actually see him playing himself into a little more playing time than we expect (both because he's good and because it'll keep willson fresher). if there's an injury, maybe he works his way into the mix if his knee feels good enough, but idk otherwise. He said 2018. As in when Miggy isn't around anymore. the older i get the less i have any idea of what year it currently is and i have to do math when people ask me my age...it really doesn't look good when i'm being carded somewhere.
  18. I think that infield is more "athletic" than the Cubs'. That obviously doesn't come close to equating to "good at baseball" though. I read "athletic" there as "good at football", which is as meaningless a metric as any that's been used to describe any form of White Sox aptitude in recent years. It's a joke article about talking yourself into the White Sox being contenders as presently constructed.
  19. Read this in an article over on The Ringer and immediately thought, that probably isn't even the clear most athletic infield in Chicago. I think that infield is more "athletic" than the Cubs'. That obviously doesn't come close to equating to "good at baseball" though.
  20. yeah, montero catching lester would be a disaster (it probably wouldn't be as bad as i'm picturing but it's funny to think about)
  21. yeah...he was directly asked about it a little while back and he basically sounded like somebody who had been told he wouldn't be catching this year (made it a point to talk about how little playing time there would be there with two very talented catchers on the roster).

  23. hmm i wonder if they would do TJ (if it is the UCL) or if they'd do the maness procedure. Were the Cardinals proponents of that procedure that Maness had or did he go off by himself and do it, since he was a FA and since has signed elsewhere? Just wondering since it's a guy the Cardinals control, I could see them making Reyes have the standard TJS since it's more of a known procedure and giving up this season for Reyes might be in their best interest instead of going with what's a experimental procedure to maybe get him back this year but hurt him longer-term? I know it was a St. Louis based surgeon, but I'm not sure if it's an actual Cardinals affiliation. It might depend on the nature of the ligament rupture, too.
