  1. this horsefeathering commissioner is "progressive" in all the wrong places and traditional in all the wrong places all these horsefeathering stupid laughable rule changes are being considered in the name of speeding up the game, but unifying the rules in both leagues (and eliminating the travesty that is having to watch a pitcher hit) is seemingly a non-starter
  2. I will take the under on 100 Baez starts at 2B
  3. [tweet]https://twitter.com/TBrownYahoo/status/829460544880943104[/tweet] Brian Wilson is attempting a comeback as a clean shaven knuckleballer
  4. how fatal of a flaw is it for a team that won 91 games and got to within 2 wins of the world series? I just mean their biggest weakness which seemed to be very glaring when the parade of lefties kept marching to the plate and looking helpless against Lester. lots of teams looked helpless against lester yeah, they were really bad hitting lefties and they should probably address it since it would seem an easy enough hole to fill (find some lefty mashing righties to platoon for their worst offenders) but either way, they are a very good team that has as good a chance as any at winning a WS next year.

  6. btw, mods, i feel like the projection stuff should be moved to the projection thread so davell's thread can keep going the way it was supposed to (with posters making predictions) viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1152
  7. Meh...he was a mid .700s guy in the minors. Maybe he figures things out a bit and does better, but doesn't seem unreasonable.
  8. We started talking about Schwarber last night after seeing those pictures of him looking like the effing hulk, and I went to find some highlights of his dongs, which sadly brought me back to 2015. I realized while watching that it was almost a completely different experience watching highlights of the 2015 team. Still incredibly fun, but just doesn't come with the happiness of knowing where 2016 ends up. That's why it's so horsefeathering great that he got to play in the WS. In like no time he became an indelible and real part of the 2016 team. He's never gonna feel like he was just along for the ride.
  9. These seem like reasonable totals at first glance. Maybe a touch high with all the mixing and matching Joe will do. There is no way that a guy that hits from the same side as Heyward and Schwarber and isn't an especially good defender gets that many ABs in the OF. Barring injuries, 0 chance. He would need to be starting in CF nearly every game against righties this season. Do you think that is reasonable? EDIT: Did not realize Jay was a switch hitter. I still think its way high, but I no longer think its insane. REEDIT: He isn't a switch hitter. But has reversish splits. Yes I expect Jay to get most starts in CF against righties. I doubt Almora will play his way into too many starts vs. same handed pitching.
  10. Schwarber is fine in the OF. The expectation is for him to be averageish or a bit below, which is about how he's graded out in 300ish MLB innings (granted, before the injury). It takes a special terrible kind of athlete to be the type of detriment that Adam Dunn (and lol Soler) was out there. And if Russell already is what he is, well that's about a 4 win player so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. I'm on board with the rest of those downside ones, though...maybe put the win total at like 94. I think the win total is light if all those upsides play out (they won't, tho)...that team would win like 110-115 games or some horsefeathers lmao.

  12. what
  13. I don't really think there's anything wrong with a low 90's projection, as that's pretty high for a projection. What I don't understand is the Dodgers coming in at 98 by those same standards.
  14. waiting for TT to remind me that PECOTA sucks (seriously, though, dodgers with 98 wins on that projection system? wtf?) [tweet] [/tweet] yeah, they seem to love the dodgers excessively and *slightly* under-love the cubs (or they wayyyyy over love the dodgers, depending on how conservative you expect it to be)
  15. What are you calling mid-season? If he kills it again, I don't think they'll hesitate to push him to AA, but I don't think that'd be before mid July or something.

  19. I completely agree.
  20. wanting lower taxes and easy access to guns are forgivable redneck political ideas. Being pro-Trump makes you a piece of horsefeathers human being. unfortunately that would render a lot of baseball players i really like worthy of hatred so i'm gonna have to turn a blind eye on this one i mean weren't we pretty sure KB is a trump supporter (remembering a conversation about him following trump on twitter and people not thinking it's a hate/entertainment follow)? i'm gonna go with they're too stupid/sheltered to know how terrible he is and that's that.
  21. I'm not about to start hating baseball players with limited schooling from redneck areas for having redneck political ideas. I love Jake. He was the definition of a bad ass in 14-15. I hope he's awesome again and we see more God mode this year than last. (Then I hope he gets paid by somebody else because horsefeathers that)
  22. We want the best record in MLB, tho. Unless this is a secret plan to get more DH games, which I can get on board with.
  23. I've hated the reds my entire life. Not really sure why specifically, but they've always been right there with the Cardinals in terms of opposing team I hate. And when I was a kid they weren't even in the Cubs division. As a kid we seemed to mostly end up going to games against the Reds at Wrigley, to the point that I remember being surprised when I finally realized that other teams' fans didn't fill the place up like those Reds fans do. Of course, it seems like they're mostly sending in old folks as opposed to drunken goons, so I ended up just ignoring them. The Reds tended to have players I liked, so outside of their criminal notion of how chili should be made and the general existence of the Brennamans they never have bugged me too much. I feel like this feels that way for me too. I mean, the unbalanced division thing is a big part of it. I feel like every game I go to is a Reds or Pirates game.
  24. I never really hated any MLB teams outside of season/roster specific situations (i.e. I hated the 07-08 Brewers at the time...really hated the Marlins for a while around/after 03) until this Cardinals run of the last 5-6 years post Pujols. Something about how they kept succeeding with a bunch of boring blobs nobody ever cared to hear about was so obnoxious. I dislike those teams. Success should come with some swag. Makes how our roster is amazingly good AND fun and exciting all the more glorious.
