  1. If Gordo, of all people, is the one banging the drum that the Cubs are in hard on a major free agent who wants a horsefeathers ton of money, that is probably more meaningful to me than national guys just having them in the mix but casting doubt probably due to Hoyer's "intelligent spending" comments. That said, who the horsefeathers knows. It's a lot of horsefeathering money and nobody really has any idea what is going on.
  2. i'm not sure what the hell they "fixed" but there was also edmonds lol
  3. Clearly they have decided that he's not what they want at C. We know what his strengths/weaknesses are at this point and the league is trending toward catchers who are good at catcher things and it seems he is not. That's entirely reasonable. They should have gotten something for him, though. I'm not sure what the hell happened at the deadline, but it might just be that the Astros pulled out at the last second (which, well, should've had a backup plan, Jed). I don't think it's a coincidence that we had a few pitchers (very good ones, even!) who essentially refused to pitch to him, too. Maybe wait until next year's roster is put together before calling anything a travesty, tho, IDK. What the horsefeathers happened to you? Reboot time. I love him and I hope he gets paid, and I hope he doesn't let the horsefeathers fans get to him like they tried to do with Dexter, but I'm fine with moving on from him. Hopefully we can get one of the Oakland guys.
  4. You'll feel better when he loses any concept of the strike zone, swings out of his shoes, and strikes out every PA because of how badly he spazzes out wanting to do damage against them. Not really. It's a travesty that they are letting him go. It would be different if Amaya was raking in AAA. Clearly they have decided that he's not what they want at C. 9. One would hope the Cubs 1st move of an off-season (premised on loose purse strings) would not consist of a rebound year to justify a contract. what the horsefeathers does it matter if it's the first move or the tenth
  10. Barstool sucks but this dude knows people
  11. He was "worth" 13.5 in like 140g last year despite being abysmal at the plate (standard disclaimer about using $/WAR on low WAR guys but yeah it's not a lot of money)
  12. good thing it's not gonna be that
  13. No shift should help him if he stops trying so hard to hit the ball in the air
  14. Translation -"The Cubs represent the primary threat to the Red Sox for Xander Bogaerts. They're looking for a poster (star) SS and have open wallets."
  15. That infield defense might be better than 2016.
  16. The flip side to that is they've had a chance to win most games late, thanks to how good Fields is. If they can do that with marginal NFL talent all over the roster, it's not hard to see how much they can improve just by solidifying some of those areas. That's an easy upgrade. And there are lots of places they can and will do that. There is a lot of easily identifiable room for improvement. They have the QB and the rest isn't hard. And it's even less difficult with the assets (super high pick that they'll hopefully trade out of)/cap space they should have.
  17. or maybe it's just greenberg (or fowler) pulling words out of his ass
  18. of course they beat the celtics who had won 9 in a row lol
  19. isn't that the dude we got from minnesota who had a decent sack total last year so we thought he might be kinda ok since they dropped him over the 4-3/3-4 scheme change?
  20. I would definitely shut Justin down at least for the 2 games leading up to the bye. No use horsefeathering around at this point, especially given all of the circumstances.
  21. hip injury, i think. he didn't play last week.
  22. jenkins practiced in full today...
  23. Also, could've sworn I heard the Bears were feeling good about Jenkins but I guess I had that wrong. Didn't realize he had two DNPs this week.
  24. if that's the case (and my impression was that his pass block grades were still bad but I could be wrong), I can't figure out why the hell his parents are suddenly looking for every opportunity to rip him on Twitter. Are they just mad he's getting all this positive attention? Granted, I'm not sure how long his dad's been ripping him like this. I didn't dive nearly that deep. Seems like a lot just today, though. I'm damn near certain those accounts are at the very least relatives...it couldn't be more transparent and would be a really weird bit for a 12 year old account with like 10 followers lol.
