    how is this even a thought a person has? and why does it seem like 95% of baseball fans online think that there's something inherently better about players who were drafted/signed IFA and developed compared to guys acquired via trade or free agency these people are literally like "yeah, they're really good and all but they can't develop pitching so yeah and stuff"

    Every year, crazy surprise stuff happens like huge breakouts or major underperformance...with the sheer quantity of young extremely talented players this team has, there's room for lots of that type of thing. I swear I wasn't stoned when I came up with this

I'm never that guy, but I kinda gave him a wave and a "big hurt!" and he acknowledged me politely.

    Wasn't the story that Maddux had his agent (was it Boras back then?) call up Himes and offered him a chance to match Atlanta's contract before he signed, and we passed, saying we'd already allocated our money to Jose Guzman and someone else?

    Where the hell'd you get that idea? the idea that it would be possible for the Brewers to overpay for Cobb? I don't know, maybe planet earth. horsefeathers, I didn't say it was going to happen while that would obviously be hilarious in the way that anything really stupid that the brewers might do would be, there's not a chance in hell the brewers pay cobb more than the cubs paid darvish

    Yeah, but most of these guys have immortal legacies as Cubs already even if they never played again. You're good. i'm still regretting not having bought one of the gold numbered ones from last year could never commit to which player i wanted. now all you can find are the $250 ones that are sized huge just like the real ones (not sure if they're entirely authentic or not)

    i've had basically these exact thoughts as i've contemplated jersey #2 (i already have a rizzo shirsey tho sooooo) i think i'm between javy and willy, and while i love javy, i still fear he might flame out so i'd rather get a shirsey
