That bill hAll Star guy is weird mix of good and strange. In a post in which he claims an opt-out after two years is good for the Cubs, he then goes on to drop this legit gem: it's not good, but it doesn't really matter...even without any opt out, this is kind of a steal. so yeah, the only new outcome brought on by including the opt out is one in which he's very good for 2 years and opts out...in which case we get him for $42M for 2 years (or however it's actually structured) which is an outcome i'm ok with in itself given where he is age-wise (if he were younger, i'd be more concerned about losing the additional surplus value control).
