  2. [tweet] [/tweet] apparently this guy had it before rosenthal
  3. Anderson is some fringe starter dude who put up a 3+ win season last year at age 30. Who the hell knows what he is going forward. It wouldn't be all that crazy to see him have a better year than Lester, I guess. But yeah, lmao at the rest of that stuff.
  4. ahhh crap i misread
  5. That bill hAll Star guy is weird mix of good and strange. In a post in which he claims an opt-out after two years is good for the Cubs, he then goes on to drop this legit gem: it's not good, but it doesn't really matter...even without any opt out, this is kind of a steal. so yeah, the only new outcome brought on by including the opt out is one in which he's very good for 2 years and opts out...in which case we get him for $42M for 2 years (or however it's actually structured) which is an outcome i'm ok with in itself given where he is age-wise (if he were younger, i'd be more concerned about losing the additional surplus value control).
  6. it's weird because it was keith law i'd have to read the article. keith law probably isn't writing the clickbait headlines.
  7. lol this guy's saying delusional stuff again thinks the cubs' chances of signing harper are virtually zero http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?p=1084351#p1084351
  8. With just about the entire Cubs media contingent (and I'm pretty sure the FO) down there already, I'd assume yes, in Arizona.
  9. i'm starting to suspect you actually get enjoyment out of picking out meatball comments to respond to and aren't just ridiculously patient responding to stupid people on twitter.
  10. starlin looks amped (and a little bloated?) [tweet] [/tweet]
  11. we're winning another horsefeathering world series
  12. My God just look at our freaking roster.

  17. We're gonna win 100 horsefeathering games again, folks
  18. I'm pissed Lauri got 7 shots. Wow...I guess it was just my perception because everytime I looked up it seemed like he was making shots
  19. I'm not mad about this win. It was cool watching Lauri and Lavine go apeshit

    NFL Offseason

It's a good hire but I don't anticipate him doing a much better job than what Shurmur did last year with Keenum, so whatever. Would've been nice if they got stuck with someone worse, though.
  21. you wouldn't be surprised if the colts are one of the better AFC teams? i'd consider that pretty shocking, even by NFL standards.
  22. why would you think, with the amount of money the cubs have to spend and the one obvious area for improvement, that they would merely be faking interest in the best available solution to fill that spot? Not faking. Just not nearly interested enough to give Yu market value. I think they got more involved when it looked like they could get him a lot cheaper than what the market suggested, but it's going to be on their terms. If they really wanted him that bad, they would have him by now and wouldn't competing against the Twins and Brewers for him. I've thought all along we are still getting Cobb when somebody else finally gives Yu a contract more in line with expectations. ETA: Plus, they are signing Bryce Harper next year and I still think they are going to be somewhat responsible with the other contracts they give out during this time. they just know they have leverage if their only real competition are those teams right now and are using it the only "somewhat responsible" that i'd expect guns blazing theo epstein to be is being cognizant of the tax implications...i don't see any reason they wouldn't (essentially) max out what they can spend with regard to the tax

  24. the brewers insider guy did say something to the effect of the brewers having upped their offer to match (or perhaps marginally exceed) ours and no, it doesn't mean that.
