  1. Yup, he's really justifying being in there instead of Benson.
  2. He's got a finger up on the competition. Nice.
  3. I'm nervous in the sense that I want him to shut the local and national media up for at least a week, and am not looking forward to the backpatting that will happen if he craps the bed and Griese comes in. I'm actually more concerned about the defense than Rex. I'm nervous for Rex only because I want him, specifically, to succeed. Generally, in football I don't pull for a specific Bear player to succeed -- but Rex is different. I like him, and I like his make-up. I think if he can get over this hump, we'll have a real by-God Quarterback we can count on. That's pretty much how I feel. Same. Not sure what it is about the guy. I don't normally root for certain players like that, but just really want him to succeed for whatever reason. Kinda like Wood and Prior.
  4. I'm pretty sure they'd have to wait until at least mid-season (sometime in May, IIRC) to be able to trade him. I know this rule applies to free agents, not sure if Matsuzaka's case is treated differently since he isn't technically a free agent. I would guess that he's treated like any other FA with regard to this rule, though.
  5. Exactly. It's not their fault. That would imply that this was a mistake or accidental. This was their plan all along. They'd sign him if by some off-chance he took a very reasonable deal, but in reality their intent was just to keep the Yanks from getting him.
  6. 10 AM? Getting an early start, huh?
  7. Seriously. I think the real question should be, "What happens to Wade Miller if everyone is healthy?" I think the answer is, "Who cares?"
  8. Aside from the obvious (Duhon, Sweets, PJ, and all the other "mehs"), I'd trade Gordon for him.
  9. Sorry, the extrrrrrreeeeeme pessimism gets to me sometimes. It almost seems like people are going out of their way to make sure to be as mad and dissapointed as possible. To say we have an ace and 4 #5's, that's just crazy. we just a signed a guy with a 6.00+ ERA. calling him a 5th starter is being genous. so i rephrase...we have one #1 starter, four #5 starters, and one AAA pitcher. I'm just as critical of this management and organization as the next guy, but what you are stating here is just plain ludicrous.
  10. Tommie or no Tommie, I have a hard time seeing anyone putting up "serious points" against the Bear defense.
  11. That's because now there's no choice. If Wood's arm were healthy enough to start, I'd still rather he do that. Since there's no choice at this point, I hope he can contribute to the team as a closer and eventually work his way back into the rotation when/if his arm regains the endurance/strength to do it. A good pitcher is far more valuable to a team as a starter than as a closer. 180-200 IP > 75-85IP
  12. It wouldn't be half bad if Prior were even the Prior of 2004-2005. No kidding. It would actually be pretty good. Or we could get greedy and ask for Prior of 2003. Then it would be really good.
  13. It wouldn't be half bad if Prior were even the Prior of 2004-2005.
  14. You have Miller as a lock for the rotation, and you have him ahead of Hill? Frankly, I hope he's nowhere near the rotation. If he can beat out Prior (or just happens to be the healthier of the two) for the 5th spot, so be it. Just surprised me to see him there.
  15. Question... What's Meche's upside? Why (besides incompetence) do the Cubs and a couple other teams have this guy highly regarded enough to shell out money? I don't follow the AL all that much outside of the playoffs. His numbers look OK, at best, but I could see them improving with a move to the NL. (Same with Lilly) I've seen some here say he has power pitcher type stuff, which is odd because it's not really reflected at all in his numbers. If it's true, though, there's always the chance that he'll finally figure it out, especially with a move to the other league. What kind of stuff does he actually have? Mid 90's FB? Good breaking ball(s)? Anybody actually know or have a good scouting report on him?
  16. Are we going to have 9th inning leads that often?
  17. Heh. Just saw the rest of that pic. Nice.
  18. Whos the chick in IPT's avatar? No idea... IPT?
  19. Heh, if he then trades for Westbrook, we really are going to wind up with everyone we were rumored to be getting in the Sosa deal (2000). Soriano, Westbrook, Lilly... Just need Jackson Melian. Oh, wait...
  20. I agree.. 20/26 2 TD 0 INT, 265 yards
  21. I started worrying about that a long time ago. ya imagine him with our wide outs, tight ends and running game I meant worrying about Rex. Seriously. Our wideouts and tightends? They were considered complete trash before they looked good playing with Rex early this season.
  22. Last year? EDIT - Sorry, that was 68 LOL
  23. Am I the only one who totally disagreed with the announcers in that it was a bad decision to go to Berrian there? He was one on one and getting separation. The throw was bad, the wind didn't help, and Berrian not contesting the pick more didn't either, but I didn't think it was a bad decision as they kept trying to say.
