  1. Wait what is it you're mad about? The Cubs just got done sweeping the Pirates and building about as comfortable of a lead as you could have hoped for going into the weekend. What is it you're perturbed about? The Cardinals are really hurt and banged up right now. Pujols was out there playing, and they had their best pitcher on the mound, so they aren't trying to tank it here. I'm guessing the Brewers get 2 of 3 from the Cards. The Cubs are going to have to win against a team they SHOULD win against. I don't think that's a change from Sunday. I think it's just his way of saying, "Screw this.. I'm not gonna be all worried about the Brewers anymore."
  2. And ya, the fact that we can go just 3-3 and they would have to win out just to go to a one game playoff is pretty encouraging in itself.
  3. 12 games to reach a total combination of 4 Cubs wins + Brewers losses. I'm not too concerned about it not happening. Particularly with the schedule the Cubs have ahead of them. If it doesn't happen, it would be epic, and pretty much unprecedented since the start of this playoff format.
  4. What ledge? How many games do you think we will lose to the likes of the Marlins and the Reds? Soul? Is that you? Talking sense into the overly pessimistic? Weren't you one of them just a while back? ;) Anyway, the magic number is 4. In the (after tonight) 12 games left, when the number of Cubs wins and Brewers losses = 4, it'll be over. Could be as soon as Wed night, could take slightly longer. But it will happen. If it doesn't, the Cubs will have had a disastrous (think far worse than 2004) finish and wouldn't deserve to get in, anyway.
  5. Will there be an HD feed OTA? Nope. *rolls eyes* thanks for nothing, mlb. Just pick up the HD package with your cable company for a month (assuming they will have TBS HD).
  6. It's no problem. I was just giving you guys a hard time. It'd be sweet to start the (potential) playoff threads, though. EDIT - Oh, and thanks for fixing it. Just saw that.
  7. We hear Prior's getting betta'
  8. Will there be an HD feed OTA? Nope.
  9. How about just clicking and finding out for yourself? It is pretty funny. Give it a look. Hah. Yea, I did watch it eventually. Not bad.
  10. You telling someone to get a grip in THIS thread is the epitome of hilarious irony.
  11. They are a horrible team but they've battled intra divisional teams. I'm suspicious. Again, this same bad team swept the Brewers the last time they faced them. So the fact that they're losing to a good team that they swept before is evidence that they're throwing the game? Come on. Irrelevant.
  12. I'm down. Oh, and I'd like to add that my record is wrong in this thread. Should be 7-2 (5-1 first time, 2-1 second time)... :D ;)
  13. Yet those sad sacks managed to give the Astros all they could handle. They also played the Cubs tough but lost. This is just bad! You can't be serious. Do you think the players really give a rat's ass about this "rivalry?" Pro sports rivalries are all about the fans. The players don't give a crap. The Cardinals aren't taking a dive in this series to screw the Cubs over. They just suck. That's what bad teams do.
  14. I wonder what percentage of homes in the US don't have some form of pay-TV at this point. Particularly what percentage of homes of people who consider themselves avid sports fans.
  15. As for the HD feeds...DirecTV is insisting that they will have an HD feed from TBS in time for the playoffs. They're hyping it as part of their package of new HD channels coming up from the new satellite. Don't know about the different cable companies as far as this is concerned, though.
  16. You'll be fine. Perhaps I should've worded the subject differently, but, in this instance, satellite=cable for all intents and purposes.
  17. It means that TBS will not be simulcasting the playoff games on a local Chicago affiliate like ESPN used to. So anyone without cable or satellite (or, more accurately, TBS) will be SOL in terms of being able to watch the Cubs in the playoffs.
  18. If anyone out there doesn't have cable, it looks like there won't be local simulcasts like ESPN used to do now that it's on TBS. This is, of course, just in case we make the playoffs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MLB_on_TBS Of course, wiki isn't the best source, so I could be wrong. But just a heads up for anyone who might be affected.
  19. Just go to cubworld.com EDIT - Nevermind. Looks like they took it off the site.
