  1. I don't understand how so many (actually, the vast majority of) people are willing to brush aside the success Ronny has had at AAA at a young age based on a bad year last year in the majors and a handful of AB's this year. Nobody is denying that Ronny had a bad 2006 (at age 23) in the big leagues, but he has absolutely crushed AAA pitching for both of the last two years. I'm not saying he's a great option, but I'd still rather see him play next year than Theriot if it's down to one or the other.
  2. I think we're all missing the obvious question here. Why on earth would you want to put a "natural shortstop" like Theriot at 2B???!
  3. I never said Theriot was better than DeRosa, what I did say was a interrogative statement asking why one automatically assumes DeRosa instantly gets the job at 2b over Theriot-if Theriot is forced from short that is-without competiton during spring training. Haha, what? And DeRosa should automatically be given the job because he's better than Theriot. The same reason Derrek Lee won't be battling Darryl Ward for the starting 1B job in Spring Training. Did you just compare Lee-Ward and DeRosa-Theriot? I really hope you didn't, I'm disgusted at the comparison. Jobs should never be won or lost based on spring training, anyway. Period.
  4. No.
  5. Cardinals fans take it in the Pujols? I dunno. Saw it on a shirt or something.
  6. Wouldn't it just be so Cub-like to keep Steve Trachsel at $4+ mil and non-tender Mark Prior because they don't want to pay him a similar amount?

    Prior

I'm much more curious to see who he's with next year. Sorry Davhern. :?:
  8. I've been saying Whittenmeyer is a poor man's Sullivan since Spring Training. I saw it right away. I wish they wouldn't hire such crap baseball writers in this town.

    Prior

Prior didn't have TJ. He had his shoulder scoped. I believe he's slated to start some basic long-toss throwing (or may have started already) soon.

    Prior

How do you figure? Other pitchers have had similar surgeries to Prior and came back to regain form. I forgot the prime example...wasn't it Chris Carpenter? I'm not saying to expect ANYTHING from Prior. He could easily never regain form. But to completely dismiss him as a middle reliever I think is a bad idea. Exactly. Apparently, Prior had significant damage (which would explain the drop in velocity and mysterious undiagnosable pain he had for a couple years) and the repair went well. Let's see what he comes back with. Come on Prior was just a big baby who couldnt deal with a little pain. He was clearly never hurt, and was basically just faking it because he likes sitting on his ass and not playing baseball. He is a figment of your imagination dude,. Don't forget he was on steroids, too. Those tiny calves last spring were telltale.

  12. I know it doesn't make sense. Unless the fix is already in for Canning and they're trying to avoid an uproar...? I got nothin.
  13. Matt Murton is actually good, Theriot really isn't. You're missing the point, though. The Theriot love isn't even all that bad on these boards. It's by the general public and the media that he is overrated. Theriot gets tons of man-love from the general Cubs fan public. Matt Murton is generally treated with indifference, at best, by the general Cubs fan public.
  14. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports_hardball/2007/10/now-thats-enter.html Sullivan blasting Cuban in his blog. I love, BTW, how he says that Cuban is saying it's "OK" for players to use/have used steroids, when that isn't what he's saying at all. That aside, how much could we/should we read into this? Are they trying to turn the public sentiment against Cuban?
  15. At least we've got the Bulls.
  16. While we're on this topic, they really need to replace the TV's by the seats with nice big HDTV plasmas or LCDs. It's ridiculous, they've got TV's from like 1987 showing the game.
  17. I hope to get in on the ground floor with this case after passing the bar. :D Me 2! I passed it and I wouldn't want anything to do with this case on any side. Talk about one that will drain the life from you. Holy Christ...how many lawyers we got on this site? I thought I was one of the only ones killing billable hours! I'll be in law school next fall, hopefully.
  18. In other words, what he's saying is Theriot (his Cubs MVP, mind you) >> DeRosa Not that I needed to point that out.
  19. IDIOT... Here it is. One of his guarantees for the Cubs next year is that the Cubs won't be FORCED to use Mark DeRosa as an everyday player anymore next year because Ryan Theriot will be moved to 2B.
  20. Or you could just do like the Bears did and do whatever you want anyway and ultimately have the landmark status revoked as "punishment'.. Just sayin'....
  21. This would be taking two steps forward and one step back. Sure, replacing ARam with ARod would be an improvement, but not the kind of impact improvement that the team needs, especially not considering the likely salary differences.
  22. I believe you mean commas. Unless this is sarcasm or some inside joke I'm not in on, no, he means apostrophes.
  23. I really wish Bruce would chime SOMETHING in on this thread...but we can't really expect him to comment on a colleague, I guess.
  24. His well thought out reply...I love this argument, BTW, because it requires no factual support at all when it's used. At least, he replied. I'll give him that much. Haha, he must be copying and pasting that response to everyone. I got the same exact response. lawlz.. what a db
