That's framing the argument in an unflattering way. The bases are loaded, a big hit all but wins the game, the pinch hitter will be used for defensive purposes(especially when Zambrano exits and Pie can enter, further eliminating the need to save pinch hitters). Plus, Barrett is still available as a good RH pinch hitter if things go bad.

I would think the best case scenario they envision has Pie adding more power and being the 5-6 hitter behind Lee and Ramirez(or splitting them up, whatever). Hopefully Lou has the sense to put Murton at the 2 spot when Theriot's BABIP fortune runs out.
