No team can continue to have luck as bad as the Cubs have had in close games to start the year. We have the best pythagorean record in the Central, which isn't a surprise given that the team is supposed to be right there with the rest of the mediocrity in the division. Give some time for these things to even out a bit.
I'm hoping guys like Howry, Eyre, and Ohman become more consistent when (if) we can start getting more than 5 innings out of Zambrano and our 5 slot. Our bullpen is throwing a lot of innings this year so far. Yep. Having Howry/Cotts/Ohman consistently going for the 6th/7th inning to set up Wuertz and Dempster I think would really strengthen the pen. Although I do like how Wuertz has been used in high leverage situations before the end of the game.
Maybe, if we pray to Baby Jesus, we'll keep playing into the 23rd inning and the game will be called. How about Grown-Up Jesus? He likes baby Jesus the best, okay? Lookin at his Baby Einstein videos, don't even know a word yet...
ah i see, so write off the stat that doesn't go with your argument and latch onto the one that does. Popular tactic. You are truly the bastion of objectivity.
Jones gets a hit here so announcers everywhere can say "how many times have we seen a guy make a play in the field then do something the next time up at the plate"
That's reserved solely for Jacque don't forgot floyd and izturis, i think 10 pages of this thread consists of bitching about them after they made outs Are another 5 pages people complaining about the complainers? no. Okay, 7 pages then.

That might be the core of a deal, but I would think it would take some tweaking since Zambrano (although a possible free agent)>Santana and Murton (so far in the majors)>Wood. I was under the impression that Wood will be the far superior player, if not this year than in the future. You're right.
i agree with you big time on this...he was hobbling all over the place today that is not good...last time i checked you still have to run in left field I will third this....he was not even looking close to healthy. I wouldn't be surprised if he was put on the 15 day DL retroactively tomorrow. (They can do that right?) On the other hand, he was jumping up and down on DeRosa's blooper like he was completely fine.
I too think the Angels are the trading partner to deal with since they have the prospects and the money to sign Z to an extension. Definitely. To elaborate, the circumstances that at least some of would make a Z/Murton for Santana/Wood deal feasible: Z returning to form Murton playing well Weaver pitching well Aybar and/or Izturis/Figgins playing well Pie proving he belongs in MLB offensively Garret Anderson continuing to be an offensive black hole
That ball was right on the outside corner, there's no reason at all for anyone to hit out out of the ballpark aside from someone who got magical powers by drinking the blood of Mayan infants while he crusaded through the New World.
In the interview with Pat and Dave, he said he grew up as a soccer player. That's how. Hey now. Pujols is going to kill himself sliding into first one day, and I'm not going to feel bad about it.
