  1. I'm seeing lots of bitterness that people in this thread didn't get tickets to get their own American Girl doll today.
  2. I for one am shocked, SHOCKED, that Lieber is ineffective throwing once every 15 days or so.
  3. And that one out has a batting average under 1.00. I'd hope so.
  4. I for one am shocked, SHOCKED, that Wuertz is ineffective pitching on 8 days rest.
  5. The Cardinals are where they are because of their starting pitching. Namely Lohse and Wellemeyer and Piniero, guys with plenty of history pointing towards them trending downward the remainder of the season. And if the Cards hover at .500 for the rest of the season, they'll be out of the wild card by 5 games.
  6. Howard homers off of Looper, Phillies lead the Cards 2-0 after 1.
  7. There's also the fact that he's slugging .700 in July.
  8. Both are interesting pitching prospects. Pina is coming back from TJS I believe, and Jackson is making his second "start" after being promoted from Boise, he was drafted in the teens(maybe 12th-13th round?) this June. Speaking of Boise promotions, Rebel Ridling and Jake Opitz should play. Opitz has a future in a Fontenotian role, and if Ridling can keep hitting like he did in Boise, he just might have a MLB future. Luis Bautista is a C/1B/DH that has been killing the ball all year. He's come out of nowhere and is a bit old for the MWL, but 1.000+ OPS's make you pay attention.
  9. why sir? Because even if Burnett was great for them, the downgrade to Escobar from Hardy would wipe away pretty much all of those gains. If Burnett continues to struggle, the Brewers easily make themselves worse. Plus Burnett would stick them with that contract in all likelihood, meaning there's zero chance of Sabathia or Sheets staying there if there was any before.
  10. Marmol has been used 3 days in a row 5 times, and he's been used in 3 out of 4 days 9 times.
  11. Everyone was angry because Lou used Marmol for the 4th straight game in 5 days with a 4 run lead when 2 guys in the pen haven't pitched in a week, and 2 more hadn't pitched since Saturday.
  12. You have periods in between the letters?
  13. As good as Prior he said.
  14. So trading for Jason Kendall instead of promoting Soto wasn't a mistake? Or are you chalking that up to laying the groundwork for the Harden trade? Okay, make that the last 51 weeks.
  15. Surely between Veal and Samardzija there's a combined top of the rotation starter. Vitters singles in his second AB, as does Flaherty.
  16. Yeah, how dare he expect Marmol to throw 35 pitches in the last week! His arm is going to fall off throwing so many pitches!!! It will because he'll have to pitch every game the rest of the year when Wuertz and Lieber wind up on milk cartons from trying to find their way to the mound.
  17. To reiterate: neither Lieber or Wuertz have pitched in a WEEK.
  18. Marmol? If you want to use a good reliever then use Wood, he hasn't pitched since Saturday. And Lieber and Wuertz haven't pitched in a week. And now Marmol has a gimpy ankle.
  19. Vitters with a HR in his first at bat. Luis Bautista continues to torment the MWL, 4 for 4 with a double. In Peoria debuts, Ridling went 0/4 with a K, Luis Flores was 2/4, and Opitz was 0/3 with a BB
