  1. Theriot is 4th in UZR for MLB SS, at +13.9 UZR/150, 5 runs ahead of the next best SS.
  2. I've just gotten back to the computer, and I'm a bit fuzzy on the details. Is this the Cavs' pick or is it going to Phoenix? My understanding is it's Cleveland's. He's a perfect fit for them. Great perimeter defender who can shoot from deep. That's what I'm seeing now too. Great pick, non-guaranteed money, similar skillset to Young, and saving money on the foreign 1st rounder lets them have more flexibility in free agency. Nicely done, Danny Ferry.

  4. I can't believe that Sam Young fell to the Cavs, and they drafted an African player whose ceiling is that of Sam Young.
  5. I just saw the Bradley red. I'm pretty sure that's not even a foul.
  6. Unless that's simply a posed shot, that is a very confusing photo.
  7. Pretty low for Castro. Also, why Searle so high? Castro hasn't done a ton to impress me. His tools and age for level put him in the top 10, but with no walk rate and no power, plus a ton of errors for the second year running, he doesn't beat out guys like Coleman or Searle who have better results. Lee is in front of him primarily because he hasn't had a chance to screw up yet and show his flaws. Hitting nearly .500 his first few games at Boise didn't hurt either. Rhee would be up with Searle if his stuff is similar after TJS, and probably pushing the upper echelon I separated. Speaking of Searle, I have him high because he's doing very well in High A as a 19 year old. I feel his stuff and style will help him better as he ascends. His sinker is a rarity and improved defenses will get him more outs. Also, since he's new to this level of pitching as he adjusts(maturity goes with this for him) I think you'll see improvement as well. It may seem hypocritical to justify Searle that high and Castro that low, but can see Searle taking steps forward beyond his current production a lot easier than I can Castro.
  8. 1. Vitters 2. J. Jackson 3. Samardzija 4. Cashner 5. Searle 6. Lee 7. Coleman 8. Castro 9. Rhee 10. Carpenter
  9. Cales got demoted to Daytona at the end of May. He hasn't pitched in a week now, although with the All-Star break that's only been 5 games. Curious that he hasn't been used though, he'd gone right back to dominating at Daytona since his demotion.
  10. hahaha, awesome headline from Ives. "Confederations Cup: 23 Americans advance, one goes home"
  11. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/grandersons-odd-season
  12. ESPN is replaying the Brazil-Italy game, and the goal barrage is just about to start.
  13. We need one of +2 from both matches, +3 from us and +1 from Brazil or +4 from us and 0 from Brazil. We have to win at least 3-0 and have our winning margin and Brazil's add up to seven or more. If we go +2 in the second half and Brazil goes +1, then we win 3-0 and have the margin add up to 7.
  14. So we need +2 in the second half and +1 in the second half from Brazil.
  15. Lee is 2 for 2 with a pair of singles and a SB, but has a fielding and throwing error at SS, which came on the same play.
  16. Gordons over team control for a few years, and nowhere near his ceiling. Teahens on a 1 year deal. Teahen isn't a Free Agent until after 2011. That is simply a horrifyingly bad deal for the Royals. Teahen has more value than Guzman, Mahay and Cruz have much more value than "salary throw-in", and Freel has zero value to anybody.
  17. Really hoping Sam Young falls to 30. Failing that, I'd like to see DaJuan Summers or a big man who can pick and pop.
  18. The Cubs, Mizzou, and the Cavaliers. So no.
  19. Does anyone get more game changing calls in their favor than the Italians? Ridiculous that this would happen to us again.
  20. I hate the Italians, I really hope we thrash them. Won't happen, but I want to give them the beating we earned against them in '06.
  21. How do you suppose the coach at Furman feels about not making him a full time starter now? Well, he played the outfield when he wasn't pitching, but he threw 100 innings his Junior year, and started only 2 fewer games as a Sophomore. There's not a ton more he could've done as a pitcher, at least in game action.
  22. Yeah, someone else can take my team, I don't think I'm gonna keep going.
  23. What in the world is Harris complaining about?
