He’s had so many of those against RHP so far. I wanna try to remain skeptical, but if you sketched out what it would look like for Javy to make the leap, it’d be exactly like this.
They threw over to first and Russell got back easily. Russell did the increasingly common move of leaving his hand on the base while he stood up and swung his leg around to replace the hand on the base(I'm poorly describing it but I think you get the idea). As he made that transition Martinez tagged him again and then frantically signaled for the dugout to ask for a review. They called their review people and declined to challenge. I actually think he was out on that so I’m glad they declined. It is possible there was a gap, but it wasn't very obvious. Also since Martinez did a separate tag on Russell's hip(as opposed to holding the glove on him) it was probably impossible to find a camera angle that showed he tagged him during what would've been an extremely small window.
Tell me about this please. They called their review people and declined to challenge.
between Martinez spazzing about Russell leaving the base, Heyward's home run, and Lester hitting a laser up the middle, this has been a very enjoyable 3 minutes of Cubs baseball
Little's two outings have come in weather generously described as 40 degrees, I'm not terribly worried about down velocity. 5 walks in 18 batters is a different story, although history is full of guys who take a few games to settle in to a level too.
lmao "his teammate" Sorry, don't have the faces of the entire Mariners roster memorized That’s Nelson Rodriguez, who got about 20 at bats for the 2014 Cubs.
It’s no less bizarre than the average exit velocity of players wearing odd numbered jerseys on tuesdays after the 4th inning. It’s borderline pointless trivia.
Dodgers a few innings away from being 6.5 games behind the DBacks(they’d also fall to last in the West if the Padres hold on). That’s quite the head start to spot them, especially since I’m not all that sure the Dodgers are 7 games better than the DBacks with Turner broken and their pitching being what it is.
I’m gonna need Underwood to keep that up for a while before I start believing in him. By my calculations he needs to perform until...2027 to reach that point.
willson was like halfway up the line, there was almost no time to react I'm pretty sure Bryant saw the ball leave Contreras' hand, then disappear behind the runner, which is one of the most legitimately terrifying things I can imagine happening on a baseball field.
I'm willing to be proven wrong that they have a tradition of such post-game celebrations, but given their repeated antagonism across several seasons plus the events of this series, it's not a hard conclusion to draw.
It's a good thing that hittrackeronline.com shut down or I probably would've been real upset seeing that all 3 of those home runs get out of 1 of 30 ballparks.
