    Boise is up 5-2 after 6 1/2 innings. Papelbon's night finished after 2IP 2H 1R 4/2 K/BB; Ruhlman, got the final out in the 6th. Mesa is down 6-2 in the bottom of the 8th now. Bernard's unearned run was actually the 6th run allowed, MiLB updated the stat line but not the box score earlier.

    MiLB just added a run to Mesa's score for the top of the 4th, so now they're only down 3-2. Parker was the 2nd run to score in that inning, it happened on a Cliff Andersen GIDP. Castillo has now gone 3 innings in relief of Dolis, allowing 2 hits while striking out 1.

    Mesa is down 3-1 in the top of the 5th now. Castillo has gone 2 innings, only allowing 1 hit and striking out 1. Samson is 1-3 with a run scored, and Vanderhook is 1-2 with an RBI. Heredia and Gilbert have both added singles as well, Gilbert also has a SB.

    That's what they had earlier for Rafael too. In one of your posts on the last page you had him at 3IP, I figured they made the error and changed it before I refreshed so I never noticed.

    MiLB has changed their minds about the Mesa game now too. Dolis only went 2IP 3H 3R 1/1 K/BB, Castillo came in for him and has gone 1 inning allowing one hitting.

    Maybe it's Paul's brother Stanley? According to his Penn. St. bio he's got an older brother named Stan so I guess it is him. Wow. :shock: I said that as a joke. I brought it up as a coincidence as well...I guess you learn something new every night :shock:

    It appears as though Penn St. LB Posluszny is playing for the AZL Mariners (okay, maybe it's the wrong one but it's close enough :lol:).

    Does anyone know where this sudden influx of minor league players in our system is coming from? Mac Suzuki has popped up on Iowa's roster and it appears like he came from Mexico, as does Hugo Castellanos. They've also picked up a 1B by the name of Jesse Hoorelbeke who hasn't even played this year before we got him. West Tenn has picked up Brian Reith who appears to have been out of baseball before we signed him. They've also picked up SS Albenis Machado, who again appears to have been out of baseball before we signed him. Are the injuries/callups throughout the upper minors responsible for this recent trend, or is Hendry's new strategy to go dumpster-diving for talent?

    I've got to run, hopefully I'll be back shortly to update Iowa's game. Marshall has given up a double, walk, and a couple of wild pitches in the 4th to allow another Round Rock run to score.

    He's playing 3B tonight, with Bynum at 2B. Fontenot hasn't played in awhile, the last time he appeared was on Monday and all he did was PH. There may be an injury, or they might be trying to get McGehee to where he play a few different positions off the bench next year.

    Soto doubles to lead off the 3rd, but he's stranded at 2nd. Marshall popped up his sac bunt attempt, Felix struck out swinging, and Bynum flew out to right. Marshall got 2 GO's and a K in the 3rd to move his line to 3IP 1H 2ER 3/2 K/BB 3-3 GO-FO 40 pitches (23 strikes).

    I-Cubs still down 2-0 after 2. Marshall rebounded with 2k's in the 2nd which brings his line to 2IP 1H 2ER 2/2 K/BB 1-3 GO-FO 33 pitches (17 strikes). Deardorff has the lone hit, a soft single to left, for Iowa. One thing that has me nervous about Marshall is that he's getting hit hard. Of his 3 FO's, 1 was caught on the warning track, and the other 2 were only a few steps in front of it.

    Iowa is down 2-0 in the bottom of the first. All of the damage has been done via a walk to McEwing, followed by a House home-run. In total he's allowed the homer, and 2 walks so far in the inning. :(

    He failed his physical and his contract was voided, but I thought that we had recently signed him to a new contract.

    I don't. I was so much happier when I was ignorant about the minors and what really happens with the Cubs. Calgon...take me away! You can blame it on T2E; he's the one that got us in to this madness many years ago!

    Take another rookie-ball pitcher like you did for Walker, Jim. Let's get this thing done and over with before you start thinking too much about it.

    If Ryan Harvey can developed into a Carlos Lee type complimentary banger, I will be more then happy. And I am glad he is turning his season around. Lee is more of a line-drive hitter that goes with pitches and can take a walk. Harvey has got quite a bit more power, but he'll never be as patient as Lee.

    I can't find a source (maybe somebody can help me), but I remember BBTN saying the Red Sox also pick Carlos Pena up off waivers from the Yankees. Don't know how the Red Sox are going to find time for Hinske/Pena when they have Wily Mo/Greek God of Walks/Lowell/Ramirez/Ortiz at the corner positions/DH. They'll be situational players, and for depth. Kapler backs up both LF and RF according to Yahoo, so Hinkse is a definite upgrade over him. They can also use Pena (who wasn't doing too great at AAA) to backup Youkilis, since his listed backup is Loretta. As previously stated, the only lefty hitters Boston has are Ortiz, Crisp (a switch hitter), and Alex Cora so now they can throw a few more lefties in the lineup if they need to.

    A lot of this stemmed from yesterday when, in the 4th inning, Padilla (he's sure making a reputation for himself this season) buzzed Vlad and then beaned Rivera after a Vlad homered. Padilla and Showalter were ejected. In the 8th, Vlad was buzzed again, by Littleton and wasn't ejected, which upset the Angels greatly. There was some thought that the Angels might retaliate today when there were no warnings, specifically from Adam Kennedy who said they might do something in today's game. It's been going on longer than that, Eaton got thrown out in the first inning last week in Anaheim for throwing behind Juan Rivera after giving up a 3-run homer.

    The Rangers-Angels fight wasn't nearly that awesome. Number 48 in the clip is a big boy, it took 4-5 guys just to slow him down. I guess that's Indy ball at its finest.

    The Rangers and Angels just boiled over and had an on-field brawl. Kennedy charged the mound after getting hit by a relief pitcher, and Mark DeRosa came in to tackle him after the pitcher got in a few decent shots. Benches and bullpens cleared, and several smaller fights broke out around. After everything calmed down, players are still threatening the other team from the dugouts. Not a spectacular fight, but it was one of the better ones of recent memory.
