  1. A manager encouraging his players to take pitches and work the count? That doesn't sound so bad to me, we could use more of that in today's game.
  2. If I'm an NFL GM and he's not working out after his recent slide, it makes me think he's got something to hide. This could cost him lots of money, but I guess if he slides he'll end up going to a better overall team most likely. I don't think so-this happens with top prospects all the time. Jamarcus Russell is not working out at the combine either. Russell's stock has been rising though. He had an excellent performance at the absolute right time, and also has the strongest arm in the draft. The hype machine is doing all of the work for him, his value is probably maxed out right now with him being a probably #1 pick. Quinn's stock on the other hand has had the bottom fall out of it. At one time he as thought of as the top player in the class, and while he is in no danger of losing the #2 QB ranking, he is in danger of losing a large sum of money. The difference in salary for the top 2 QB's from last year is almost $1million per season over the next 6 years. And that was only a difference of 7 picks plus both still went in the top ten. If Russell goes #1, the Browns take AD, and the Dolphins feel comfortable with Culpepper then Quinn could easily fall to Carolina at 14 barring a trade-up.

IMO the Browns will take AD, and Quinn will fall down to the Dolphins at #9 or the Panthers at #14.

  5. Cue the Mark Cuban rumors again...
  6. New company means new owner/board of directors most likely. Lets hope that they don't go back into a payroll cut and screw us over again.
  7. Draftdaddy.com has reported that Dallas has been heavily engaged with DE Gaines Adams.
  8. Go to the "view your posts" in the right upper corner. Or don't you like it up there and would rather have it on the threads? Whenever I click on that, I get the "search is disabled" message. On another forum I post on, the color of the marker in front of the thread title turns from blue to red whenever you've made a post within that thread. It'd be nice to have something similar to that here if at all possible.
  9. Tim, is there any way you could change the markers next to each post to let users know if they've posted in that thread or not? Alot of times I forget which threads I post in and it would help tremendously.
  10. You've exceeded your Geocities bandwidth, is there any way you could upload it to ImageShack or PhotoBucket so that the rest of us could see it?
  11. I wouldn't assume that. They determined he was healthy enough to take a risk, not necessarily "very healthy". I agree and if he's having a fly ball hit to him I'm not too thrilled with him being flat footed like that. I wonder if there is pain in the achilles or calf/hamstring thus the flat foot approach. It kinda looks like he's lost the ball and is just standing there, I can't imagine anyone trying to field fly balls like that and still being able to get a quick, accurate throw off.
  12. It almost sounds to me like a hanging slider that someone has learned how to locate and throw consistently. Something like that could be quite effective in today's game IMO.
  13. You're a bit harsh on yourself. He wants to end the misery of losing in his own league quickly and painlessly. Bring it. We'll see what happens in week 1.

  15. When it didn't hang, which it seemed to do more and more in recent years.
  16. I can't imagine Baker doing the LLWS. He's probably gonna try to convince them that the game if filled with too many young players, and they need more older experienced players to show them how things are done. Also, who can't wait to here this?:
  17. I was thinking the same thing. The photographers are playing golf. Or Scott Eyre ate them. Simon thought he saw sausages...
  18. I'm in as SmallballSmorgasbord.
  19. What kind of name is Mackail?
  20. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6485778 So I guess Rivera wasn't that essential to the Bears success.. Have the Chargers hired anyone for defense yet? If not maybe Rivera is going there to help Turner. Rivera's run a standard 4-3 defense throughout his coaching career. I'm not sure how big of a shift going to a 3-4 is for a defensive coordinator, or if Turner will keep a 3-4, but it may require a change in thinking on Turner's part. Yeah, I would see it more likely that Rivera would be going to Dallas as the D-coordinator-they wouldn't be that bad switching, but SD would lose much of its defensive effectiveness if they switched defenses. He won't be coming to Dallas, we will most likely be promoting DB coach Todd Bowles to D-Coordinator. It won't matter much though, because Phillips has already stated he'll be running the defense.
  21. My respect for Tavarez just shot up. As crazy as he is, I have to hand it to guys like him. It's rough coming to a new country in front of rabid fans who love you one day and want your head the next, you know? It can be rough but I'm sure they know that's the way it works. That's the way soccer fans are, especially in latin countries, is it not?
  22. Am I wrong in thinking that's Bobby Hill?
  23. Cub were at $94M last year. And I'm not sure what $2.866,000 is. Probably similar to $2,866,000...just a wild guess.
  24. Anyone remember that shot Coomer had that hit the roof of the camera nest out in center a few years back?
  25. 24 wins from Wood out of the bullpen. That's impressive. I'm more impressed with the 300 K's in less than 100 innings from the pen. I've seen Kerry strike out 4 in an inning a couple of times, but he'll have to do it quite a bit to hit those numbers! In order to get 24 wins out of the bullpen, just imagine the number of blown saves he'd have.
