  1. He's actually been pretty hot to start the season. He's hitting .316 with a homer and 4 rbi, are you confident that he goes back to his usual self? It's a risk; I just think that he'll get more playing time than Niekro, so he'll have a better opportunity to put up some nice points. 1B is kind of a crapshoot; it's hard to find a 1B that stinks and still gets regular playing time, because most teams have a decent hitter that they can switch to 1B if necessary. Sean Casey is my guy this year. 3/13 (all singles) so far, and Detroit isn't exactly a hitters park.
  2. I can't wait until Iowa and Peoria can join in to that (Boise and Arizona too but those are pretty far off). I've been so excited for the start of the season that I haven't slept in 3 days.
  3. Argentinian soccer players, but it applies to Ginobili. I don't follow soccer, but a loosely follow the Spurs so he was the first that came to mind.
  4. Hopefully he's hittable, but yeah I'm definitely not holding my breath for Oswalt to not pitch well. He's rock solid... my pick to win the Cy Young this year actually. Not many people realize that his career ERA+ is basically equal to Clemens and Santana. Health permitting, he's a future Hall of Famer, no question. Well he's allowed 5 hits and 1 ER both times out, and that's been against the Pirates and Cards. We've got a better offense than those 2 when we're on so my guess is 7 hits and 2 ER off Oswalt, and he goes 8 innings.
  5. Over/under 3 hours for the first "Trade Barrett, Promote Fox" thread by an uniformed person that happens to see this?
  6. 7 XBH's for Tennessee tonight...and we thought they had a punchless offense.
  7. Oswalt with a CG to pick up the win for the Astros. It took him only 94 pitches, hopefully he isn't this good against the Cubs next week.
  8. After another 2/4 day I dropped Felipe Lopez and picked up Dan Uggla, I don't think he can duplicate his stats from last season.
  9. Sosa is 1-2 with a single and a run scored tonight. Texas is up 4-2 after 3 1/2.
  10. With Oswalt pitching a heck of a game, and both Lee and Berkman launching homers tonight if they lose you should rip the News-Star a new one.
  11. Rosters haven't been locked yet, you can still make adjustments.
  12. He's going to be a heck of a player no matter where he plays. I like the way they're going to play him this year letting him play in the IF and OF. I wouldn't mind having Fox-Pie-Soriano left to right out there. Of course that would crowd things quite a bit because Colvin isn't too far away, and I think Murton is only going to get better but these are problems I'd love to have.
  13. Berkman just launched a HR to right field, and the Stros are now up 5-1 in the 7th.
  14. Lets hope for a DOPE slap to match it.
  15. Fox finally broke through with a HR tonight putting Tennessee up 7-6. Jorge Cortes walked infront of Fox and scored on the HR as well.
  16. I'm not watching the Rangers game, but going back and looking as Sammy's AB on gameday it looks like it was a bad call by the ump. The pitch he K'd on was a breaking ball low and away that appears to be off the plate.
  17. Sammy struck out looking, Julian Tavares retired the first 5 batters of the game. Since then he's allowed a walk and a single.
  18. This should be a caption contest: http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20070407/capt.cc62cb455e5847ae8f7597dc1e15e75b.cubs_brewers_baseball_widh101.jpg DeRosa: *giggling* High Five!! Soriano: Too slow :)
  19. Sosa is in the lineup for the Rangers tonight, he is DHing and hitting 5th. The Red Sox got one run in the top of the first on a Drew single off of Millwood.
  20. Well Schapert just gave up the lead again. Jacksonville is back on top 6-4 after 2 solo shots by Lindsay and Concepcion.
  21. Tennessee has tied the score at 4 in the 3rd. Fox is now 2-2 with 2 doubles.
  22. Maybe Z is trying to rile up the Brewers and get them so focused on him that they lose their focus on this series so that we can sweep them tomorrow?
  23. Any clue what his pitch count was? That line isn't pretty, but it isn't to the point that he couldn't turn it around either.
  24. Tennessee has cut the deficit down to 4-2 now. Craig doubled, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a Cates sac fly in the 2nd.
  25. Well its 62 and sunny with no chance of precipitation until midnight. Jacksonville is 55 and sunny with no chance of rain until tomorrow.
