  1. Huh. Tough for me to test it out and see what's going on to fix it. :?
  2. Delucci Dunn There is a huge power gap between the two guys.
  3. UK and I have talked about this on several occasions. I believe (and I think UK concurs) that the Cubs should always be ready to do both buying and selling. If there's an opportunity to upgrade the overall talent level on the team, it should be taken. Sometimes, that might mean trading prospects for an established big leaguer that another team is trading for salary or other reasons. Sometimes, it might mean trading a vet who is overrated at the moment for some reason (having a year way outside of career norms or overvalued by another specific team because of their needs). If I were GM, I wouldn't overpay for talent unless I thought a particular player was the final piece to building a championship core. At this point, it is hard to believe we're in that position.
  4. That is a bit odd, Quakers. What kind of error message are you getting?
  5. Just keep clicking one of those google ads a day and we'll call it even. :D id click those ads much more frequently if they opened up in a new browser instead of navigating me away from nsbb Sorry, I can't help that. I'm not allowed to change the way those links operate.
  6. A .400 OBP today from our leadoff man wasn't good enough?

  8. I don't think trying to get around the word censor like this is something that Tim or the mods appreciate. Tim had previously asked people to avoid such attempts in a post some time ago, but I think its be more prevalent recently. Just a friendly suggestion. What he said.
  9. And a hearty welcome back to the non-premium members. If the attack resumes, I may have to disable the regular UI until a more permanent fix is possible...
  10. The board is under a denial of service attack right now. The regular board has been temporarily disabled while I work on things. Premium members still have access.
  11. Corey - swung at a fastball strike right down the middle but missed it Hairston - struck out on a ball way out of the strike zone that would have been ball four I'd take Hairston's at bat everytime. Hairston ran the count full, then struck out on a good pitch. Corey fouled out to the catcher on the first pitch. The ball Hairston swung at was nearly in the dirt. I like it when people swing at meaty strikes and watch balls. I don't care what the count is.

  13. Why do people want Baez? I don't get it.
  14. Oh, okay. We'll take Freel back, too, if we have to in order for them to clear space.
  15. those ERA+'s did represent a decline, though. Consider that his previous five years looked like: 273, 259, 162, 191, 191. I think the people who said he had decline and that "vintage Maddux" was gone forever were correct. And since then, the 105, 113 ERA+ Maddux of 2003, 2004 is probably the best you can hope for in 2005 and 2006. BTW - Maddux is my single favorite player of all time and I love having him back on the Cubs from a fan's point of view. From a baseball point of view, I believe those dollars could be invested more wisely.
  16. I'm going to guess that Roger Evenson has signed since he's listed on the Boise roster.
  17. I still think Nomar will be back, if for no other reason than he has nowhere else to go. If Cedeno keeps hitting, I think you'll see the Cubs pass on Nomar, re-sign Neifi and break in Cedeno gradually like they're doing with Dubois. Are you confident that he'll be able to keep it up? Obviously it's not likely he maintains his .350/.412/.511 line, but do you think he can finish around .300/.360/.475 or is that too optimistic? If so there wouldn't be much sense in having him repeat AAA. I'm more in the optimistic than confident range right now with Ronny.
  18. I've got two words to add to this post -- "Christian Guzman" I'm not mistaken, right? The Jimmy Rollins mentioned in this thread is the same Jimmy Rollins that has a sub .700 OPS? And the Christian Guzman you refer to is the same guy that has a sub .500 OPS? Ouch. Yes, indeed, those are the ones. I really hope Cedeno keeps hitting!

  21. Over the past seven days he has eigtht at bats. He's not rotting, but he's starting to have a little moss growing on those "slower moving parts".
  22. about 10-14 more days. Repeat as necessary. :D
  23. This is the same organization that refused to let Choi get a better taste of the majors because Fred McGriff (to whom the org. owed very little) was pursuing some idiotic record. There is no way, not a chance in heck that the Cubs will do that to one of their all-time greatest players. Especially a guy who is, by nearly every account, a very good individual and great team player.
