  1. time for that third true outcome...
  2. Google Analytics is clearly not catching the source for some of the hits to the article. Every time I check the real time stats, there's 4-6 people reading the article, but the vast majority of the hits are showing as "direct".
  3. If anyone isn't watching, that was a full swing from zobrist that hit the ball six inches.
  4. Almora, on the other hand, is just sooooo smooth out in CF
  5. Zobrist is kinda scary in RF so far.
  6. Addy should have struck out there, but I'll take it.
  7. Lackey has struck out five of ten so far.
  8. He looks bigger than he did even last fall and presents a bigger target than I thought. There's some noticable enough jabbing still, but that's out of my league beyind being able to notice it. I've seen it, but it has been when the pitcher misses the spot badly when I've noticed. That happens with every catcher. Maybe I'm just not watching him on the right pitches.
  9. So far, every other batter has struck out.
  10. Nice takes by Contreras. Hopefully he gets the third true outcome in his next PA
  11. That strikeout pitch to Cabrera was nasty. Lackey is really sharp to start the game. Also, in my opinion, Willson looks like he's going to be really solid behind the plate.
  12. I'm more impressed with Almora at the plate than I thought I'd be. He's got some power in his swing.
  13. Also, I'm a bit late, but hell yeah KB!
  14. There are a bunch of ideas on content here: - daily / weekly recaps - player profiles - weekly / monthly look at how prospects are moving in the rankings - statistical analysis - draft coverage - digging into the org philosophy on development - etc. We used to have pretty good relationships with most of the farm teams, though most of them have changed over since those days. If people live near the parks, we can almost certainly get media credentials again. I'd love to get photos of the players, too. It's an unpaid position, but I encourage people to get an adsense account and embed an ad or two in their articles.
  15. There's a link to the interview with Bosio at the end of this article. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2016/06/29/cubs-find-whats-hampered-jake-arrieta-lately-mental-approach-contributing-to-mechanical-flaw/
  16. Duke is setting a very high bar for front page content and I'm doing my best to live up to that. Anyone want to take on writing about the farm?
  17. Okay, I worked on why Addison sucks against lefties. The short answer: Popups and bad luck. The long answer: I have no idea why he's popping up so much against lefties other than a shift in the location of pitches.
  18. This is your last day to vote for the Cubs in the allstar game. Remember to throw a vote to Posey to start at catcher!
  19. I think that click through rate is indicative of the nature of the sites. reddit is basically built to have people click though on the links to see the content. On twitter and facebook, it seems that people mostly just read the message and don't click through.
  20. Of the hits to the articles for yesterday and today: 2226 are direct hits (people who typed in northsidebaseball.com or used a favorite) 222 are referrals (60 for cbslocal where I made the comment on the stupid article, 44 from disq.us, 38 from deadspin looking for swastika tats on cards fans, etc. 424 from search (most common search term: what nationality is addison russell?) 363 from social media (287 from Reddit, 87 from twitter, 9 from facebook)
  21. I just got a couple text messages that they cited nsbb on the air. So that's cool. Duke with the awesome (and timely) article, Goony doing the work on twitter!
