The Cubs are 14-8 since Soriano was shut down also but hey, lets just put all the focus on Milton Bradley. And if Soriano was sent packing that would not break my heart. -

This is dead on. Agreed. This is Sosa all over again. 16 mil went to Baltimore in that deal, if I'm not mistaken. Not comparable player situations, but financial definitely. I can't believe the idea of Hendry being fired isn't being talked about at Clark & Addison. -

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/deluca/1783342,CST-SPT-deluca22.article As this season went on, I really came to dislike Bradley. Now, I am starting to feel sorry for him. From the sounds of it, he has some mood swings/coping problems. I've heard about the terrible upbringing he had and I think he might need some professional help. Or maybe going back to Texas would help things considerably. Where ever he ends up, hopefully it won't be a major market. -

(Once again, take with a grain of salt due to the media's "Destroy Milton Bradley" bias.) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/chi-21-cubs-cardinals-chicago-sep21,0,1712208.story "Bradley had been more erratic than usual this weekend, telling teammates he was having marital difficulties and sparring with hitting coach Von Joshua. Hendry spent the last three days contemplating the suspension. Bradley's downfall began when he pulled himself from Thursday's game with apparent knee soreness, one day after manager Lou Piniella pulled him after the third inning on a double switch. Bradley's angry postgame media session embarrassed the organization, and his tug of war the last few days with Piniella became untenable. Bradley took himself out of Saturday's lineup, then refused to pinch-hit late in the game, leading to Joshua getting in his face. When Bradley complained to the Daily Herald about "negativity" surrounding the organization, Hendry finally pulled the plug." -
Bradley Suspended for the Rest of the Season

http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/2628 ST. LOUIS _ The headline on yesterday's blog was "Milton closing the door." The Cubs suspended Bradley for the rest of the season today, and they'll call up outfielder Tyler Colvin from Class AA Tennessee for the start of tomorrow's series at Milwaukee. Lou says Colvin will play. Let's make no mistake here about Bradley. Although the Cubs took action by suspending him, Bradley brought it all on himself, and not one player in the clubhouse here at Busch Stadium rose to his defense. In fact, there was a feeling that a great weight had been lifted from the Cubs. We've heard a lot about chemistry these last few days down here. Mark DeRosa talked about what great chemistry the Cubs had the past two years. Who knows how much a difference it makes. As Aramis Ramirez told us this afternoon, if you win, you have great chemistry. That great chemistry didn't help Kosuke Fukudome out of his half-season slump last year, nor did it prevent the Cubs from getting swept in the playoffs for a second straight year. But having a downer like Bradley around sure doesn't make things pleasant for players (and media) who have to live with each other for eight months. "Last year, I don't' know how many times I heard from the media that we had the best clubhouse in the league," Lou said before tonight's game. "Things don't change that rapidly in a year." It's pretty clear about whom Lou was talking. I asked Reed Johnson if he felt for Bradley. "I don't know," Johnson said. "In a way, I guess I feel sorry for him. He can't enjoy the same things the rest of us enjoy. He can't take the good things out of the city and the same good things out of the organization and have a good time with it. "From our standpoint, nobody was making an effort to isolate him from groups. I think for the most part that was his choice." Ryan Dempster talked about the need for Bradley to "look in the mirror." "To say that everybody's out to get you and the reporters are looking for you and always looking to stick a microphone in your face, well, if you notice that they're always for you, I think maybe you're always looking for them," Dempster said. "I've been here six years now and haven't had a problem with anybody here. D-Lee's been here, Z, a lot of guys for a long time. Yeah, you have some tough times, but the city's great. The fans are great. You've got to realize sometimes the consequences of your own actions." We've all had our little set-to's with players. Jim Edmonds and I got into it right here in St. Louis. We got over it, and were chatting about baseball a few days later. That's all I wanted to do with Milton Saturday. Right away, he said, "I'm not talking about my knee." I told him I wanted to talk baseball, and, true to form, he turned it into something else. It happened a few weeks ago in Chicago, when he was asked about being comfortable at the plate before turning it into "hatred and adversity." Ryan Theriot can get a little testy after a bad game, but Ryan "gets it." "Chicago's been great to me," Theriot said. "Chicago's been a city that's been extremely positive, welcoming for myself, my family. Both the fans and the media have accepted me as a player and as a person. I'm extremetly appreciative of all that. From my standpoint, I can really just speak of that. "Each and every one of you guys in here have been extremely respectful to me, good days and bad. The TV guys, as well. The fans, on good days and bad, have been great to me." We'll get to what GM Jim Hendry has to do over the next few days of blogging and story-writing. He will trade Bradley this off-season. You can bet on that. Bradley was being disingenuous when he sold himself to the Cubs last winter. Turns out he ended up being a bill of goods, despite some good OBP numbers this year. Hendry apparently took Bradley at his word, or he thought he and Lou could manage Milton when things got rough. It didn't happen. Back to the ballgame. -

http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports_hardball/2009/09/dempster-on-bradley-look-in-the-mirror.html (Keep in mind this story will have the built in "destroy Milton Bradley" media bias, so take with a grain of salt) "At the end of the day, he was provided a great opportunity to be part of a really great organization with a lot of really good guys," Dempster said. "It just didn't seem to make him happy- anything. Hopefully this is a little bit of a wake-up call for him and he'll realize how good of a gig you have. It probably became one of those things where you start saying things that you're putting the blame on everybody else. "Sometimes you've just got to look in the mirror and realize that maybe the biggest part of the problem is yourself and (not) wanting to be here and play every day, and (not) wanting to have some fun. It didn't seem like he wanted to have some fun, even from spring training. "Hopefully this is something that can be good for his career and good for him as a person." What a racist that Dempster must be. -

And the biggest problem in all this? Jim Hendry will be responsible for cleaning this mess up. -
Agreed. Hendry needs to be the fall guy on this one. It's always somebody else's fault with Bradley. It's not 1 or 2 instances, its EVERY SINGLE TEAM he's ever been on. Hell, even last year, HE CHARGED THE FREAKING TV BOOTH to fight an announcer. What a piece of crap human being. You'll have to check with South Side Ryan to get the real story concerning Bradley.

Good explanation.......the problem being those "three games at the end of the season" seem to be the roadblock to winning that elusive World Series. When the World Series is the goal, which I would hope it would be for the Cubs and their fanbase, and 101 years in they still haven't won one, I'm not sure why being "competitive through August and September" should appease a Cub fan. Why would a Cub fan point to that as a badge of honor? I would counter your argument by saying why would you call out any Cub fan who is actually critical of his team because of the lack of postseason success? And now with your hall monitor/board watchdog "frankly we'd just prefer if you leave us alone." I'll be posting even more. Feel free to hit the ignore button. And soccer10k....The Raiders won a Super Bowl in 83 I believe. A Cub fan would kill for a title in 83. And somehow, the misunderstood Bradley is suspended for the rest of the season. It can only be because of one of three things: 1. Fans 2. Media 3. Cubs organizational conspiracy against him. Because as we know, it's never his fault.

Did you seriously say these things consecutively? There's usually a reason why a guy bounces around so much, well Reggie Sanders played for 7 teams in 7 years, the [expletive] prick. Yes there is usually a reason, why a guy plays for a lot of different teams, I [expletive] explained to you each of the reasons in my previous post. And is the reason that Sanders bounced around because of his behavior? Because that's what I'm talking about regarding Bradley. Which is why the Sanders argument has no meaning in this argument. You could pick out a number of players who have played for multiple teams. Including Mark DeRosa. But they are not known has head cases. Which is the gist of my point. What would be the reason that Bradley has bounced around in your opinion? "yeah last year was really nice because the cubs were comfortably ahead for nearly the entire season. we didn't really have to deal with the negatrons until october. unfortunately the most likely result in any given season is "not winning world series" so they'll always crawl out of the woodwork at some point." along with the "The Cubs have never won back to back division titles in their history until now" woodwork crawlers. Yipee!!!! Division titles. And if I'm not mistaken the Cubs are 0-6 the last two years in the postseason. But that's O.K. Cause at least they made the playoffs. Enjoy, Truffle.

So Bradley has gone from a piece of s**t 3 months ago (according to his manager) to a man who deserves every benefit of the doubt so much so that you have jumped on board with Bradley's line of thinking regarding fans. Ponder that one over. You're taking up with Bradley's viewpoint. I wonder if he was on any other team and acted like he has this year, what you're opinion of him would be. If you're a big fan of division titles, more power to you Truffle. After 30+ years of Cubs games, titles are what I want. Does that make my postings "smug" and "self-satisfied"? Great, I'll wear it. Sadly, this is a team that proves me right year after year. That doesn't make me happy. Criticizing moves by or players on the Cubs doesn't make anyone more or less of a Cubs fan. And going as far as checking profile pages to try and justify an argument? I can see why you side with Bradley. "This whole 7 teams in 9 years thing is incredibly misleading. How do you feel about Reggie Sanders. Was he run out of town 22 years in a row?" SS Ryan, did I post something incorrect? Any scenario or time frame or reason why, he's been with 7 teams in 9 years. Now if he was with 4 teams in the last 9 years, my statement would be "incredibly misleading". There's usually a reason why a guy bounces around so much. Reggie Sanders? Has Sanders behavior been a problem in the past?

i can't figure out the lengths that people like you will go to attack him. if it were any other player on the field who walked out, and found they couldn't take the pain in (wherever), i'm guessing you wouldn't think anything of it. Agreed, unless it was an "any other player" who was on his 7th team in 9 years with a history of, putting it mildly, erratic behavior who had already been labeled by his current manager as a "piece of s**t", which I've come to find out is probably not accurate due to the Chicago media's obvious mission to destroy Bradley's reputation and to rile up the fans against him. I always forget that part.
-
Yeah, that's the most logical explanation. Not that he tried to tough it out and take the field, and upon taking it realized he couldn't go. I hate every [expletive] who's been a late scratch to a lineup. [expletive] those guys and their histrionics. And how many players have you ever seen walk off the field for no apparent reason with no one waiting to run out to replace him? About 50 pitchers a year. I must have missed the part in the game where Bradley was pitching. Sorry about that.

Uhhh....no. If you're hurt, why would you take the field only to walk off? How about telling Piniella before the top of the next inning "My knee hurts, I think I better sit down"? Or would that not be dramatic enough? I actually told my Cub fan friends who thought he would be a pain in the a** not to worry. He's turned it around. I think he really wants to prove everyone wrong. If it wasn't for the racist fans and evil media and now injuries, everything would have been solid. I can't figure out the lengths Cub fans will go to defend this guy. Is it because of the C on the hat? Oh well, I guess we can look forward to the next two years. Unless Hendry can find a trading partner in a Sosa to Baltimore-like deal.
-
Aaahhh....there's that evil media..... Are there any Cub fans out there that think that maybe Bradley is just an ass, which would explain why he's bounced around so many teams? Or is there some sort of evil conspiracy to make him look like the bad guy? So are you saying the media has nothing to do with the fact that Bradley isn't generally liked by the public? Did the media want to go after a broadcaster in Texas? Did the media fabricate Bradley's outbursts in other towns? Did the media forget how many outs there were in a game? Did the media directly tell Bradley "You're not a ball-player, you're a piece of ####"? (I'm sure Piniella didn't say that, it's was just a media fabrication) Why has he bounced from team to team if he's a good player? The media? If he's a good player why do you care about any of this? I don't doubt that Bradley has pissed off the media in most locales, but I don't give a [expletive]. I don't give a crap. But for someone to blame Bradley's problems on the media is way off base. I heard he was walking off the field last night because Paul Sullivan did the vulcan mind meld on him.
