  1. I moved to Chicago last month and when I signed my lease back in March I anticipated a decent year, but didn't expect them to be so aggressive with the farm system, but it's made the move a lot more exciting. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Back to the Castro talk - when do they finally move him to 2nd base? It makes so much more sense. Russell has been absolutely amazing on defense at 2nd with an occasional hiccup, Castro has been absolutely miserable at short with an occasional stretch of 2-3 good errorless games. 3. My dad could beat up your dad. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Wada vs Kershaw has me cringing already. I hope the Wada shows up who either strikes out 10 guys randomly or just lets people hit bullets right at people. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Last time Cubs were in St. Louis they should have easily won 3 of 4. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I've been very optimistic about the Cubs' future. They have money to spend, the have several very good young hitters and about 4-5 years before any of them make superstar money. The only tough spot for the Cubs going forward will be investing large dollar amounts in arms which can be very dangerous, but that's where they have people who get paid plenty of money to study and investigate who is most likely to be a better investment. 7. I would say my Cubs season tickets would put my far away from a "TROLL" Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. So, wait - we're arguing projections - what were Robinson Cano's projected stats this year? How were the Red Sox or White Sox projected to do this year? How are they doing now? What were the Giants projected to do last year? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Ahh I knew when I joined this forum I'd be dealing with 90% Cubs homers and 10% people who actually understand baseball. Why can't people step back and lose bias when it comes to talking baseball. I LOVE seeing the Cubs win as much as anyone but I'm REALISTIC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I said the offense is young and streaky. It will be good and it will be bad. That's pretty simple. I predicted at the beginning of the year that the Cubs would be a 81-85 win team.. I still believe that - but they could also surprise us and could do what last year's Royals did in the regular season. The pro of having a young team down the stretch is that they are exactly that: young and can hold up in the dog days a bit better. The con is lack of experience as well as being over-anxious. This is where we have a weapon named Joe Maddon who is level-headed and will have an opportunity to really show his skill. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. I get the feeling you are much more about what has happened so far and less about how players will continue to perform. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Ok and if they lose 5 games straight their odds go to crap. I'm looking at the actual team and what I/we know on how they look, how they have and will perform and how we've been educated by people who are much smarter than us. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I thought that swing from Plouffe was gonna be a medium deep fly ball. Wow. Strong dude. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. I think a trade for Zobrist and Kazmir would put the Cubs as less of an outside chance of making the playoffs and more of a legit threat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. At the end of the day, if you took the Pirates and Cardinals rosters and took bias completely out of the equation and said to intelligent baseball people "pick the top two teams to win THIS year" the Cubs would be third on that list. Can crazy things happen in baseball? Yes. However, the Cubs are still a good starting pitcher and probably an above average bat away from not being 3rd on that list. Next year, with development and free agency taking place - I'd say things will most likely be in a different order. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. I'm sorry I'm a Cubs fan and accept reality and don't just jump on the wagon when they are winning. The offense is young and will be streaky. Lester is the only guy in the rotation that I could see being better than he's been. Everyone else has been playing above or to their potential. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I don't think this rotation will hold up well beyond June.. Lester has been slightly worse than we expected.. Arietta has been pretty close to what we wanted, but has show signs of slowing down of late, Hammel has been far better than expected but has also shown signs of slowing down.. Hendricks has been pretty much been right on what we could expect. Wada just isn't good but his good start one of every 3 starts keeps the Cubs hoping he's the same guy from last year - who still wasn't as good as numbers say. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. If we need rotation help, it's to replace Wada - yes he's not as good as his last start. He's just not good in general. Hendricks is pitching fine and overall he is actually better than his numbers show. He's something between the numbers from last year and numbers so far this year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I will forever wonder why when russell came up, he didn't move to 2nd and Russell stayed at his natural position. Castro is as bone-headed as they come. He as baseball intelligent as Alfonso Soriano - just replace the home runs with singles. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I like the Cubs chances against Hughes. He's not overpowering. He's not too great at any one aspect of pitching and the Cubs seem to beat the pitchers they're supposed to beat a lot this year. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. He won't throw a fastball. Sir curveball. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Russell, Russell, Russell.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Cubs should be patient with Shaw.. Tough spot for a non-closer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Coghlan hit .247 with a .350 OBP against lefties last year. It was purely a matchups move and not a well-thought out one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. So last years .228 ... Is that why he's in there? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
