  1. holy crap pierre walked. Are we in Bizarro world?
  2. Why would you encourage him to enter this thread right now?
  3. So here's the question to y'all. Is Bucholtz worse than Rusch?
  4. Let's not use em all up tonight. I don't want Woody feeling at home just yet.
  5. lopez ties up the game and gives my fantasy team 2 RBI. :D
  6. It took you 3 years? I thought most people had already expressed their man love for Z.
  7. Z hit a big HR in 2003 at Houston didn't he?
  8. I keep thinking Aram is heating up, but I look at his average and it's still in the .240's. :?
  9. Dudes been hittin the ball hard right at people. He deserves a break.
  10. Womack CF (ride out hot streak) Walker 2B Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Jones/Nevin Platoon RF Barrett C Murton LF Cedeno SS and then when Womack comes down to earth Murton LF Walker 2B Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Jones/Nevin Platoon RF Barrett C Cedeno SS Pierre CF Drop Soto to the 8th spot, when Barrett serves suspension move Murton and Cedeno up one during that time.
  11. I'm not sure how we can assume he will go on the DL. Yea, yea, I know his past - and I probably have some level of blinders on because Woody is my favorite Cub of the last 15 years, but looking at it semi objectively: Wood had TJ surgery in 1999, came back in 2001 and never had elbow problems again. Wood had Shoulder surgery in 2005, he's come back, and how do we know his shoulder problems aren't behind him now too? Prior events to not predict future ones, or something like that. If he pitches this year well, gets a 1 year incentive laden deal and pitches all of next year well, how do you NOT give him a contract? Pitchers with Wood's stuff, desire, and character do not come around everyday. Sure he could go somewhere and toil/convert to a closer etc. But what do you say to yourself if he goes somewhere and returns to being dominant ala 1998, 2001-2003? I'm looking it as the option or a multiyear gauranteed similar to what Burnett got. I'd be shocked if he signed an incentive laden one year deal with the Cubs or anyone else because I can't see why he wouldn't be a very desirable free agent, especially for teams like the Rangers, Astros, Mets, Red Sox and Yankees. You're depressing me. It should also be noted that 3.5 million is sunk cost of the buy out. 10 million is left. If you give him a 6.5 million/year base plus 3.5 in incentives with a 2nd year option automatically vesting at 200 IP for 13 million I'd do it. if burnett got as much as he did, I'd take Woody at 10 million.

  13. For the love of all things holy, how are you guys suggesting we get Wood to waive his NTC?
  14. Well anyone with 1/4 of a brain would realize that he has a NTC loves Chicago and won't waive his NTC. No it's moronic not to resign him if he pitches well this year. It would also be moronic to pick up his option. There are other things that can be done though, given a good year by Wood - namely an incentive laden contract. And Jason Schmidt is available this off-season.
  15. But there's an obvious difference between rookies like Murton and vets like Walker when it comes to being influenced/inspired/ruined/etc. by the coaches. I suppose, but I wouldn't trust my career with the advice of someone else if I could see their advice didn't help me. Yes but with Busty and company, you won't play if you're not "aggressive"
  16. Quit being reasonable. Wood is a bum who doesn't care about winning, and just enjoys collecting his paycheck. We should get rid of him already. Afterall he's never won 15 games.
  17. That's fine everyone is on their normal schedule because of the off day and Woody pushes back an extra day to give him more rest until his shoulder is normal game shape. Sounds fine to me.
  18. He's been a DH and hasn't gotten any field work in.
  19. I thought eckstein grounded an infield single. Fred said to center field. Which is it?
  20. an ACTUAL solid at-bat by Wombat (not my sarcastic pierre reference) 9 pitches I think.
